Game Thread Nebraska at tOSU, Sat. Oct. 26, 12pm ET, FOX

That last drive by the Buckeyes was a hair on fire situation. A great coach should be able to harness that passion and make it happen throughout the game. The great teams, with leadership from the players and coaching staff, start out like that and keep the foot on the gas for 4 quarters. I haven’t seen that much during the Day era.
Said it earlier in the game thread, but looking at those guys that chose to come back. Sawyer, JTT, Burke, Trev. Where you at?! How bad do you want it?

I mean let’s not rule anything out here.

I have to say we did not do very well helping Zen today. We didn’t chip or use a TE to his side much, was stubborn with the run leaving obvious passing downs, and just lacked creativity I thought.

I would’ve liked to have seen us option Zens man. If you can’t block him then let him through and option him.
Or trap him, which they did with Scott from a tight split.

That's more than a bit excessive. The game completely hinged on the LT position. He was not capable, and everything fell apart. That is the fault of recruiting and coaching the last 2 weeks for sure.....but your post makes it seem like all phases of the game were falling all over themselves. The entire performance was because our LT was dog shit today. That's all it really boiled down to.Ye
Yeah.....no. This team wasn't prepared from the opening snap. Did you think they were? The loss of one starter should not make the whole team fall apart, which is what appeared to happen. The Offensive line recruiting has been ABYSMAL for years under Day. Go to the recruiting forum. What is the latest ".... is a Buckeye!" thread for an offensive lineman?
I just don't like where this program is right now. If you do, good for you.

I know it would never happen but id love to see coaches start seriously protesting these ridiculous soft targeting calls.

“Targeting” should be for players clearly making malicious hot. (Like launching and using their head as a middle)

Not bang bang plays where a defender coming in to make a legit tackle gets screwed because the offensive player falls or ducks at the last second.

I don’t think it’s “bad sportsmanship “ at all to try to get a ridiculously awful rule changed

I always watch them come out of the tunnel. And they were just jogging on to the field like ho him, another game.

My disappointment continues to be in the staff. They rarely make adjustments from what I see. WTF was Chip thinking today? You absolutely need to get EE and JS more involved in the game. Yes there were some nice plays for them, but too few and far between. You make $$$$$ to scheme things even with a disjointed line Chip.

Went to the game today. The weather was an A! The team delivered a D level performance especially after two weeks to prepare. Expected a much hungrier and angry team. We’re honestly lucky that the Husker QB is a true freshman and missed some wide open throws that would have been TD’s. That was the most uninspired game I’ve seen in a while. Couldn’t pickup 1 yard to sustain drives, left middle of the field open on D. Third quarter was awful with no sign of coaches making adjustments. The team was super flat and I didn’t see any fire. OL is a hot mess, the DL didn’t do much against a good but undermanned team. Raiola had a really good pocket most of the game and pass rush over-pursued or didn’t get home. On a positive note, the crowd showed up and it was loud in the 4Q. The targeting call was total BS and a reason to hate the direction of the sport.

I am super down on Ryan Day and my confidence in this team to make a run. Something is wrong in the locker room. I was oversold on this roster and there are several returning upperclassman that just will never reach their star potential. Glad we got out of our own stadium with a W and hope we see a much hungrier and disciplined team next week. All goals are still available.

Who wasn't prepared? The RBs who had less than a second to figure out which nonexistent hole to run through? The QB who had about a second and a half to decide which WR that wasn't even starting his break to throw to? The WRs who didn't have a QB with enough time to get them the ball? It's all on the turnstile playing LT. That's obviously a recruiting issue, but it's not a preparedness issue or a player performance issue (outside of one player).

The coaches need to do better beginning with Coach Day. His antics on the sideline are an embarrassment and is starting to remind me of whining Jima. There is a disconnect somewhere
and they need to rediscover themselves.
Antics? WTF are you talking about? Him getting pissed off is nothing to be embarrassed about. This isn’t Brian Kelly level so saying it’s an embarrassment is far from being accurate. What do you want from the guy? He sits there in silence and looks pissed and people say he doesn’t “have any fire”. He shows he does and it’s an embarrassment? GTFO.

That call was a legit one to get pissed about but he is lucky the B1G refs who love making the game about themselves did not tack on another 15

eh. that's anecdotal. you've decided they need to come out jumping around and screaming because that's apparently what you think winning teams must do. what teams do as they come on to the field has nothing to do with how good they are or how well they play. if Ted Ginn comes out with black eye liner on acting all emo before a game, he's still faster than anybody else on the field and will run past them accordingly. how they enter the field means less than nothing to me.

confirmation bias for some people. they want Day fired, so now they spin anything he does to the negative. that's what's actually embarassing.
