Guys, I think it is worthless and very time consuming trying to prove that Ohio State or in NDChief's case that Notre Dame is "America's team" or the "Most Popular Team of College Football" when we are all biased fans, and will die trying to stick up for their respected university.
Not to get off topic, but who honestly gives a shit about who is "liked" the most by the United States. All that matters is that my (our, your) Buckeyes win games, and frankly I could care less if other people don't like them as much as they do another team, or we aren't the most popular team in the nation.
A possibility of our increase in the fan base in this "Harris Poll" may be because of our overwhelming success, as of late. Many of us know that with winning, results in more positive exposure, and that can lead to more fans (aka bandwagon fans). I have no problem with more Buckeye fans joining our fine tradition. However, I do have a problem with those "fans" that switch teams when our team goes through a rough period, resulting in many losses.
Honestly who cares about how "popular" their team is, as long as they continue to produce on the field, and win games? The way I see it is that we have the finest tradition and fans in the United States of America, and every time I see the 'Shoe filled with 100,000+ fans, the guys playing each down to the fullest, and the band playing the Fight Song, I think to myself, "Wow, I couldn't think of anything better than being a Buckeye."
