Does anyone have a breakdown of what the differences will be between the systems? I have a Wii, and wonder if it will suck compared to the 360 and PS3, other than the obvious things such as graphics
I read an article about the Wii version a few months ago and it mentioned the family play and said that it wouldn't have any online features.

I started checking around again tonight and it looks like they've gone away from the name "family play" and made it "all play". Meaning that little kids can play an arcady version or more serious players can play a sim version. The online features (one on one play and dynasty) have been added too.

The Wii version is still catering heavily to kids, but I think that the excitement of the online dynasty mode has motivated them to try and make it a better quality game for us old gamers too. I'm porbably still going to rent it first though.

I keep getting conflicting answers regarding the online play for the Wii. I'm going to go ahead and assume that the Wii has no online capabilities like I'd originally heard. The only thing that I can find is that the online stuff is listed with improvements/additions over '08 for all systems, and that EA is being less than forthright about what the Wii version supports. Any question, on the EA forums, concerning the Wii, is either ignored or answered by some dbag with "just get a PS3/360".

Anyone wanting to know about the Wii version is probably going to have to rent it first, because EA isn't talking.

I'll be at a Gamestop in Toledo for the Midnight Release. I'm pumped!
Then you should have just driven to Bowling Green, got the game there and be playing it already.

No, PastaPadre did. There was a thread on OS saying that someone used Pasta's rosters and the dynasty froze, but it was taken down.
I've had 0 problems with his roster file. Works like a charm.

I've even edited players. for instance, I've already converted Antonio Henton into Ryan Lukens at FB, and it still works great. I moved Brewster from RT to C, edited Bryant Browning to be black (he was white for some reason), and tweaked a few individual ratings. I've done all of this while my 360 was online, so doesn't seem to be any problem there either.

Downloading the rosters isn't the problem, it's editing them............

so you can Download pastas rosters and be fine, just as long as you dont edit player names or equipment
Not true (for me at least). As mentioned above, editing is easy and I've had no problems associated with any changes I've made.

That said, after taking a hiatus on Saturday to party at Put-In-Bay, I got to play another 1-2 games yesterday. I absolutely crushed Ohio, 55-0, and again it was a bit too easy. I think I injured 2 of their players for at least 9 weeks each. Then it was time for USC.

It was nice to play an equally matched team for a change. My stats came out much more realistically then with the other games. Play calling had to be more varied and felt like I had a nicely balanced offensive attack.

Boeckman was 20-25 for 250+ yds. Beanie ran for around 75 yards. Saine got a decent number of carries as well. I tried to use Pryor in a few Tebow-like opportunities and had mixed results. For the most part, USC was able to shut my option down, so it's defended much better than years past.

It was also nice getting a feel for an away game. Boeckman was a rock, and the crowd didn't appear to bother him at all. Each play that Pryor was in, the diagrams on the field were all sqiggly lines and such. Not a big thing, but it's fun to see the detail they went to in implementing the HFA this year, and how it impacts different players.

I haven't tried Heisman level yet (for the person who asked about it), so I can't say how it plays.

I'm still trying to get a good feel for the running game. It seems as there are times when I just completely miss a hole and get crushed. I can't figure out, as of yet, whether it's due to my movements or if it's do to the CPU trying to get my RB to head towards a certain path before I can control it. Anyhow, it's a bit weird to describe, it's kinda like when you have to wait for an animation to end before regaining control of a player.

Interesting weekend for NCAA09. See what happens when you get the game early :wink2:

Thankfully it looks like DT Linder will have PS3 rosters so that looks good. It will become even more interesting in a few days when people start up their online Dynasties...

If the only real problem is roster edits, I can live with that. I just hope the online Dynasty works like it is suppose to.

Did you guys that have it just get it from that store in Bowling Green? I assume nowhere else is selling it...
There's another store in Fremont (same name).

Those are the only Ohio stores that I know of, but there are other stores in other states that have sold early as well.

Got to play the full version last night; they finally made some steps at making the option a little easier to defend. - homefield advantage is sweet...

I played as the bucks of course, my friend played as WVU - beat him 23-14.
I really enjoyed it - beanie is a monster especially on iso's - and I ran the option in the red zone with Pryor.

The bluff system is just magnificent, I'm glad we have something in place so same system users can't look at each other's plays.

A great experience - chances are, I'll pick up a console just for this game.

question

live with four other guys, we have been having playstation 2 NCAA and Madden dynasty/frances for the past couple of years. I read about the naming thing and then someone said it isn't a problem if you are offline. Seeing as how we are using the dinosaur ps2, is there going to be a problem?

So Vince went out and grabbed himself a copy at the local EB, brought it back, and I've been watching him play a bit.

A couple quick notes. First, we couldn't get the rosters from 'pastapadre' at all, it just kept saying he didn't have any available downloads. We were able to get it from 'extremegamer' -- so if you run into the same thing, try the latter.

Second, we edited that roster while online without consequence. We changed Henton to Pretorious (hey, the guy's wife used to be a BP member), and we filled in FIU's depth chart which was *empty* at several key positions.

The latter was probably a waste of time, because when Vince went into his first game (Ohio State hosting Michigan), the depth charts had been reset. So while he had put Terry in at FB, that was no longer the case. Interestingly, the depth chart bug from last year is still there. There were a number of instances where a player would appear twice on the same list, the numbers would get screwed up (2, 2, 3 -- instead of 1, 2, 3), it was a pain to fix without pulling everyone out because you'd get the "can't start twice" message, and so on.

Anyway, frustrated but excited he went into the game, just went All American for starters, which was obviously a huge mistake because there have been 5 picks in the first half of the game, Boeck throwing one, Threet 'good' for 4.

Pursuit routes are generally poor, eschewing real physics for animations still causes problems, and the picks are just depressing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it's out and really look forward to playing it myself, but don't think for a second EA has gone out of its way to fix some of the obvious annoyances from last year.

The INT issue is just ridiculous. It's only been one half of one game, so I can't draw any meaningful conclusions, but it definitely *seems* like it's worse than last year. I'll be looking for decent sliders on Heisman, I guess. Hopefully not at the cost of a viable running game for both sides.

--edit--
Sorry, I was wrong. That was 5 INTs in the first 7 minute quarter. Hey, the second quarter only had 1 though, when I took over and picked Threet with #33. So 6 for the first half, 49-3 good guys. All American is dead to me.

--edit2--
Jenkins pick in the 3rd. 7 total, 6 for OSU.
Another by Jenkins. 8 total, 7 for OSU.

--edit3--
That's how it ended with the INTs. 8 total. Toss in 2 fumbles, and there were 10 turnovers. 63-10, that just wasn't even a little fun (at least in terms of the actual game play -- shaming Michigan always is).

Jenkins had 4 of those picks. Laurinaitis 2. Russell 1. We were 21 of 29 passing for 287 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. Beanie ran for 100. Pryor, Saine, Terry, and Wells good for another 100 between them. We hit 10 different receivers, so no one just blew up the stats there. The OL allowed no sacks (although there was decent pressure). 99% of the Michigan passing problems were these slow high arcing passes. We stopped actually going after those after a while, letting the AI take over D lest we set some sort of ridiculous INT record (or at least make it worse). Interestingly, Michigan was constantly 4-wide and definitely ran an RR-style offense with a lot of spread and option (even if they don't have the personnel). They didn't get "serious" about running the ball outside of the option until the 4th quarter though.

Don't get me wrong, not trying to pooh pooh the game in the first couple hours. Just saying I'm disappointed in several aspects. Being able to snag the rosters immediately was a dream come true. Really looking forward to online dynasty. Really hoping Campus Legend isn't a complete and utter waste of time again this year.

I really really REALLY hope the game isn't going to reorder the depth charts before every game. Right now, it looks like that's exactly what it's doing.
