NBA Discussion (Official Thread)

Thats the biggest problem I see from afar, the players still seem to be suffering under the impression that this could possibly go somewhere.

The owners have them by the balls, they are perfectly content to punt the season. The players union will break and eventually take a number south of 50-50.

NBAPU needs to take a lesson from the wise seal pup

 Good point. And I agree. Hopefully it's the beginning of the end of the bullshit in South Beach.

Funniest thing I've heard is about MJ

Et tu MJ

The owners' faction includes between 10 and 14 owners and is being led by Charlotte's Michael Jordan, according to a person who has spoken with the owners. That group wanted the players' share set no higher than 47 percent, and it was upset when league negotiators proposed a 50-50 split last month.

I fucking love this... MJ should have been nicknamed the "honey badger" cause the dude doesn't give a fuck about anyone... this is so funny to me that even a former player wants to beat down and humiliate today's players. How many of the players will have the balls to tell Nike "No we don't want to wear Air Jordan's"? 0 because they want the money...

I'll take "not one single swinging dick" for 1,000 Alex.

There's an old saying in poker; if you can't identify the patsy at the table its you. The players are sitting in on a game that is so far over their head its laughable. And they still don't know it.

The owners have a plan, patience and money. The players have twitter, posses, baby mommas to pay and LeBron and Dwade screaming at Stern in a meeting.

The knife to a gun fight analogy works here as well.

Owners latest to players;

  • 50-50
  • you have 4 days to take it or leave it
  • if you leave it the next offer is 47%

You got 'em right where you want 'em players, owners will fold any minute now.

Meh. Players today wouldn't be making anywhere near their current jack had MJ not come along. I got zero problems with Jordan in this whole scenario.

Ditto... Got ZERO problems with Jordan wanting his money.. its just hysterical to me that a former player would be putting up some of the biggest resistance. I love him even more for it.

Jordan was (and still is) a bigger son of a bitch than LeBronze or any of his idiot friends could ever dream of being. It's hilarious that any of these dumbass current players thought they were going to get sympathy from him when they sat across the table. Yet another miscalculation by the players. Keep up the good work, fellas.

I can't wait to see the players decline the current deal and then get an even worse deal before next season. What a bunch of morons. The owners should really create their own structure and sign whatever players are interested in playing. Eventually the current players would be willing to come back to work under the owners terms. Let all the current teams keep the rights to the players they have, but void all contracts and start from scratch. They can talk all they want about playing in Europe, but they won't get paid anything close to a shitty deal with the NBA. Burn the fucker down.

Good call--they just did so. Evidently, neither they nor Hunter have yet figured out that the owners hold all the cards here. I love watching this.

well, it appears a growing number of the players do. hunter and the union wouldn't even give the owners' last offer to all of the players for them to read and possibly vote on themselves.

the owners then put their offer out on the table for everyone to see. sure enough, you had guys like kobe bryant and louis scoal immediately saying that they should be allowed to vote on the offer and they should accept it.

the problem is that billy hunter is a functional retard, and that agents are driving the bus by keeping their superstar clients on board with rejecting any offer that will hurt the agents' pocketbooks. 75% of NBA players will not accept any situation in which they lose an entire season. it's because most of them know that they will never make back what they lost through getting a marginally better deal.
