Name, Image, & Likeness (NIL) at tOSU

Listened to the Menace podcast. Apparently, the head of OSU's NIL was let go. That can't be a good sign. Will somebody get somebody that knows what they are doing already?
OSU has 3 NIL collectives though! That’s the problem with NIL as well, fans still don’t know a lot about it, and think that it’s used by the actual school. This isn’t directed at you @osuvictory1 but just many fans in general and I lump ZS in there. OH doesn’t have oil barons, this state doesn’t have tons of executives willing to drop several grand a month to get a kid to visit. At OSU your money is made when you’re on the team and not before
And ZS is selling clicks by being the OSU contrarian now. And theres a segment of the fan base that likes being miserable all the time, and he feeds those people.

Oh I know that they aren't connected. I thought they merged into the 1870? But the school can definitely do better working hand in hand in correcting it. Something is seriously off. One of the largest alumni and fan bases, there has to be something better there. The 1870 should hire a SEC person.

Nope, still got The Foundation, Cohesion and 1870. And no one knows which one will have the most impact. Schottenstein grandson of course has The Foundation, but Day has backed Cohesion one year and 1870 the next. So that gets confusing. But different Players are sponsored by different collectives. So how does one know which one to donate to? And it doesn’t seem like OSU is steering fans to any certain one which doesn’t help. I went to a basketball game at Louisville a few weeks ago, and there were QR codes all over the arena for their collective. Not sure why OSU can’t do the same

Agree.... I think Gene Smith retiring hopefully open the door for a person more accepting or in tune to assisting with the NIL and moving it to a better place.

It feels like that given Gene's stance on NIL and the collectives... They are being held back and are basically counting on NCAA/Congress to come in and put guardrails up. Something just does not feel right about tOSU collectives and the University, and it feels hands are tied.

B1G and SEC need to just break off from the rif-raf. Pick 14 other schools to take along to get to 48. Then make the football players employees, give them a union and a collective bargaining agreement. Be done with the NIL thing once and for all. Some kid thinks that the grass will be greener playing for Nevada-Reno and making some money from a local car dealer, then good riddance.

I said this in the beginning but with 64 teams and a relegation element so it tries to stay fresh. Make it happen

I believe that Chip Kelly made a similar proposal a few days ago

UCLA’s Chip Kelly Lays Out a Bold Vision for Future of College Football

Conference realignment has gripped college athletics in a way many sports fans didn’t think was possible, but UCLA coach Chip Kelly might have the best proposal yet for how to proceed.

Kelly, a longtime college football coach with plenty of experience leading athletes, was asked about the future of college football earlier this week and gave a thoughtful answer about the future of the sport.

“I think we need to have a conference commissioner and I think football should be separate from the other sports,” Kelly said ahead of the LA Bowl. “Just the fact that our school is leaving to go to the Big Ten in football … our softball team should be playing Arizona in softball. Our basketball team should be playing Arizona in basketball.

“But because football left—and they’re saying, ‘Well, how do you do that?’ Well, Notre Dame’s independent in football and they’re in a conference in everything else. I think we should all be independent in football.”

So what’s the fix? How about two mega conferences?

No, not the SEC and the Big Ten. How about a Power Five conference and a Group of Five conference?

Just sayin': Probably won't happen nor should it. The TV contract(s) haves (i.e. B1G and SEC) just aren't going to want to share with the the TV contract(s) have nots (i.e. Big XII and ACC). There is going to be only so much TV money. Why would the B1G/Ohio State and SEC/Alabama, etc. who currently are getting the significant larger shares want to reduce their share so the lesser schools like Boston College/Syracuse/Pitt (i.e. all the ACC schools) and Kansas State/Baylor/Cincinnati (all the Big XII schools) get an equal share?
