Name, Image, & Likeness (NIL) at tOSU

Make a league of the big revenue football teams that isn’t affiliated with the schools in any way. The teams can license the use of the university’s name for a fee.

It’s a lot simpler to solve that problem than try and fit the entirety of the old college sports model into the new realities.
But will the Buckeye leaves have to be black then?

The job to be done is to get the 30 or so “big boys” in a format that generates the most interest/revenue. Treat them as pro sports franchises and that becomes very simple.

Once that is done, the rest can still be handled under the old inter-university student athlete model.

While you are at it, maybe time to start asking the NFL why it’s the only pro sport league that doesn’t have to invest a dime in its development league.

And the NFL can say to piss off, because they’re king. The NFL doesn’t need to answer to CFB

I always thought NIL was supposed to be a player getting paid for the use of their NIL as the name of it implies. If this is the case then why are the players not being paid from the TV contracts, video games, jersey sales, etc.?

Pardon my naivety.

Charitable gifts. The exact same way Olympians used to receive tax free compensation to maintain their amateur status.
