Fired up! Ready to go!
Mustain has to be one of the most unsexy surnames ever. Dick and Nutt, sexy. Mustain, not so much. :p

I'm no fan of Houton Nutt, but any coach that wants to structure his offense around a freshman QB as opposed to an All American Running Back would have to be insane.
oh, he should have just promised hed be his #1 guy?The problem was that Nutt made promises about what direction the offense would go in.

For what it's worth, two sources offered the same answer when asked whether Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain would transfer to USC after he arrived Wednesday.
``It looks like he is,'' they both said, unaware of the other's answer.

1. He's definately not the only coach in the SEC, or in the country to make such a promise.
2. That doesn't mean that he meant that it would happen his freshman year.
3. That doesn't mean that his parents have the right to be unreasonable about it. The kid was stinking up the joint and McFadden was playing lights out. What did they expect Nutt to do? Tank the team and the season so that their son could have the offense structured around him?
If that family was naive enough to believe that the offense would be built around their son NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES, then they deserve to be criticized.
methomps;752725; said:1. What does it matter what other coaches in the country do? This was a promise between Mustain and Nutt.
2. Maybe. But even if we assume that nothing was promised to happen right away, where does that leave us? McFadden is going to be back next year, so we are talking at least another year without the changes.
3. What is unreasonable about expecting a promise to be kept? The very purpose of a promise is certainty. What good would promises be if they all had the implicit caveat that they were void if something better came along for the other party?
McFadden wasn't an unknown to Nutt. McFadden showed what he could do in 2005. Nutt should have considered McFadden when he made the promise.
Don't forget that the promise bought something: it bought Mustain to Arkansas. Without it, he probably doesn't go. You seem to be saying that Nutt should be free to make promises, receive the benefits of the promise (a kid's LOI), and yet be free from making good on the promise.
