THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Most fans are happy with logo-bearing hats and sweaters.
Some go for foam fingers. Normally, the more hard-core types settle for face paint and lots of screaming.
But not in Columbus - not for the Michigan game. Here, fans go swimming.
In a lake. At night. In November.
Braving the cold and wet, thousands turned out late last night to make the 20th annual plunge into Mirror Lake on the Ohio State University campus.
Why? School spirit, along with a bit of mob-think and ample amounts of alcohol.
"Around this time of year, it's all you hear about," said Robby Moreland, a freshman from Danville. Moreland didn't wait until the supposed midnight time to jump, instead taking his first campus plunge about 9:30 p.m.
"It's about five times colder than you can imagine,"
