Michigan State Spartans (official thread)

Could have happened when the excitable boy ran out in front of a mail truck, like the gimp that he is, with a coat over his head as a kid.

Or maybe sideline tantrums?

Ha. I forgot about that.

So he gets called a "baby", decides the best thing to do is to punch Jim Kelly, saying "don't question my toughness". Then he's the one losing out on $140,000 per week for 3 weeks.

Also, that doesn't explain why his other pinky finger is just as crooked. Or did he break bones in both hands?

I think the left one was broken when he jammed it up Screech's ass.

As it stands right now I am good with a 10-2 record as long as Walker wins Heisman and SCum also loses to tOSU. The main concern is that beating PSU will not be an automatic. I fear MSU may use up what few healthy players they have left against tOSU and have nothing left for the PSU game. Talented depth is the main issue at MSU right now. While I believe MSU can win this weekend the fact is they will need to score about 60 to do it. And while tOSU defense has been questionable I think they will get enough stops to outscore MSU at the Shoe. I will just be looking for Walker to go off for about 180-220 and 2 TDs to get that final quality outing that will be needed for the Heisman voters. If you have not had a chance to watch him for a game you will appreciate his talent. He turns some of the worse blocked plays into 2 yard gains. He is a bit banged up I am being told but I think most players are not 100% by game 11. I am just hoping MSU can keep it close in the first half to make the game interesting. And I am also hoping tOSU is looking past MSU to the SCum game so maybe MSU doesn't gets the Bucks fully attention and the Bucks give MSU a B level effort......one can always hope. BTW what is the deal with OSU defense. I need to check out some threads as they are giving up boat loads of points this season.

The Oracle knows, but that bitch ain't talking. We've had good against the run but can't stop the pass, good against the pass but can't stop the run, and on Saturday we had good against the kick-off run back and can't stop anything else. The big issue is not getting anywhere near the passer without the full blitz. We do have a frosh corner who can stay with anybody and a halfback turned linebacker who's beginning to come into his own. The rest is up and down, kids and seniors who show the potential one play and take a snooze on the next.

Going back to Desmond boofin' Howard, name all of the players who played against Ohio State the year they won the Heisman (before playing Ohio State, I mean). There aren't many. Howard in '91 (or was that '93?), Charles boofin' Woodson in '97. Ron Dayne in '99 (or '98?), Baker Mayfield in 2017. Of course, Marcus Mariotta in 2014, but that was after he already won it. Who am I missing?
They all had this in common: they beat Ohio State.
Sorry, but I'm pretty sure that a loss on Saturday will take him out of serious contention. He may win a trip to New York, but he won't win.

As for Ohio State's defense, they play some series like they're in the offensive huddle. Then other series they look lost. Guys wide open, where if a ref doesn't make the tackle, no one will. Oregon kept lining up 3 wide receivers on the field side, and no one on the boundary. Then they'd run a sweep to the boundary. Ohio State had no answer for that. Purdue had series where McConnell looked like Peyton Manning and To* Brady had a child who murdered them both with his quarterback skills. In my novice opinion, the run defense seems to be more consistent than the pass defense, so I'd say that Walker will likely get a bunch of yards, but Thorne will need to make the plays to win the game. If Ohio State scores like they did against Purdue, Michigan State will have a tough time keeping up. But if Ohio State scores like they did against Nebraska and Penn State, it could come down to which team wins the turnover margin.

Been watching Walker every week since the Miami game and I've been impressed as heck with him. How Wake let him get away I have no idea. That said, if we don't have 7 or 8 in the box, with Burke on Reed the entire game, I'll be pissed. They have Nailor (banged up?) who's good also but the TE isn't all world. Heyward plays multiple positions but he isnt super fast so 8 in the box can still cover him releasing. Sell out the world to stop Walker and get pressure on Thorne. The rest should take care of it'self because their back 7 aren't covering Olave, Wilson, JSN and Ruckert let alone Henderson out of the backfield. I like our chances on Saturday as long as they are focused.

10 years? What could go wrong?

Ask Notre Dame how their 10 year contract to Charlie Weis worked out.......

Another example of a coach being able to leverage his current school for a bigger/longer contract because another school has shown interest in him, etc.

Tucker became a potential target for the LSU job according to an Oct. 16 report by Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman, hours before the Spartans played at Indiana and a day before Orgeron officially was terminated. That was a big reason for the push by MSU to rework his deal and lock up Tucker long-term.
