Defensive tackle Damon Knox will not return to Michigan State for a sixth year, the school released Friday afternoon.

MSU coach Mark Dantonio said in a release that Knox, who graduated in December, will instead be pursuing a career in law enforcement. An athletic department spokesman said MSU never officially submitted paperwork to the NCAA to apply for a sixth year.

“Damon has been a major contributor to our success the past five years,” Dantonio said. “We appreciate his time and commitment to the Michigan State football program and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Michigan State’s bid to defend its Big Ten championship got a lift Tuesday with the announcement Brandon Clemons has been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA.

A veteran of 32 college games, Clemons is a three-year letter-winner and has already earned his degree in psychology.

“Brandon Clemons adds a great deal of experience and stability to the offensive line,” coach Mark Dantonio said in a news release.

“I believe the team is only as good as the seniors,” Dantonio said. “Brandon has been part of a winning culture here the past five years and we’re excited he’s getting the opportunity to maintain that level of excellence for his sixth season. He’s everything you’re looking for in a quality student-athlete. He earned his degree last year and will be a go-to guy in the offensive line room this season for our football team.”

And you thought the football program was a hot mess...

http://www.espn.com/espn/otl/story/...al-team-gymnast-alleges-abuse-doctor-karolyis

Despite being released by USA Gymnastics, Nassar continued to practice medicine at his alma mater, Michigan State University, where he'd worked as a faculty member and treating clinician since August 1997. He also continued in his role as team physician for Twistars Gymnastic Club USA, in Michigan, and as a volunteer for the high school gymnastics squad in nearby Holt..Outside the Lines has learned that Denhollander's police report turned out to be the first of dozens filed with Michigan State University Police.

"We've received multiple additional complaints and we're continuing to receive more complaints," Michigan State University spokesman Jason Cody said...
Outside the Lines indicate that more than 30 complaints of criminal sexual conduct have been filed since the end of August in connection with addresses where Nassar treated patients not far from the Michigan State University main campus in East Lansing.

"I have approximately 20 other girls and women who've come forward to us that have alleged abuse by Dr. Nassar," Manly said.
...Nassar was first investigated for sexual misconduct in April 2014 at Michigan State University when a former student made "an allegation of abuse during a medical procedure," according to a statement released by the school. But it appears USA Gymnastics was not aware of that 2014 probe.
"Our police did an investigation. They then turned it over to the prosecutor's office and the prosecutor decided not to file charges," Cody, the MSU spokesperson, said.

Nassar was temporarily suspended from clinical duties at Michigan State during that 2014 investigation, but a spokeswoman for USA Gymnastics said the school never notified the sport's governing body.

Has an oddly familiar ring to it, doesn't it?

I only ask two things from Michigan State's team this year: 1. Beat Notre Dame 2. Humiliate Big Brother. They're half way home on my to do list.
Not so fast. A Michigan with 2 losses and a Penn State with 1 loss puts those fucking dick cheeses in the B1G title game. Unless somebody can do what we should have and kick Penn State's teeth in, we kind of need Michigan to stay undefeated until we beat them.

And I know....that goes against my theory of anybody who thinks we need a strong Michigan for a strong B1G is an idiot. I still believe that. But this year, unless Penn State drops another one (or the rest of them if there is a god), then OSU's chances rely on the tie breakers that would put us in the CG over a 1 loss Michigan and 1 loss PSU.
