I also get the sense that he’s starting to lean into understanding and having the ability to motivate college kids which… well… see UFM. We know how those skills aren’t necessarily transferable. He can get away with things at the college level that would never fly in the NFL… get away with may be strong, but not far off. Those things make his job much easier at the college level.
The one thing that I’ve heard him say a few times that always strikes me when he says it is, “Here at tOSU, you’re expected to win and there’s not a lot of tolerance when you don’t” (paraphrase). While I think we all agree, as would Ryan, tOSU is a destination job and it wouldn’t make sense to leave for other pastures — few if any are greener. I think that we all agree that there’s a price for living in that kind of a pressure cooker.
I don’t doubt that kind of pressure exists in the NFL, but they seem to be far more tolerant of a couple of Ls in a year than we, as tOSU fans, would be.
