Michigan State Spartans (official thread)

The thing that is key is the focus on OSU from dantonio. You'd have to assume that stays in place with Fick but maybe not.

Even this year, with all that talent and Day calling the plays, Sparty was a proper pain in the ass for about 3 quarters. Played WAY above their heads and then, once their super bowl was a loss, seemed to crater for the year.

You're very generous. It was 27-10 at the half. They were competitive for a quarter

I don’t know what it means for Fickell to MSU rumors but UC flipped a WR from Illinois this morning and added another WR target from FL
Like most coaching rumors, it considers no more than half (if not 1/10th) of the factors. Sure MSU would love him. I see no reason for him to jump on that sinking ship.

Harbaugh is in his final year to justify being terrible at recruiting Ohio and developing in general. Fickell does not have that problem, nor failing to understand the rivalry (pet phrase or not). Fickell would be the hire that actually concerns OSU fans, the way UM fans pretended Hoke/RR did.

There's also the matter of whether he'd get an offer to come back home someday if Day moves on. If this were 2016 and Dantonio were retiring for health reasons, that makes a lot of sense. It makes little sense as a mid tier B1G program with no talent (and even less for next year) and a giant chasm between them and the top-3 teams in their own division (and pretty strong recruiters at the basement dwellers below them).

You can’t be guilty of awarding star players’ parents jobs for signing with MSU if you never sign any star players.

Man, I just don't see this as a good time for Fickell to jump from juggalo to sparty. At best, Sparty is locked into being the 4th (5th?) best program in its division. At worst, they're about to get hammered by the ncaa.

Meanwhile, Fickell has UC competing for NY6 bowls. He's living in a staunchly Catholic city that's perfect for his family. There's no pressure on him other than what he puts on himself to continue to improve the juggalo program. I'm not saying he should never leave Faygoville, but I don't think this is the moment or the destination for him to do so.

Oh....so every B1G middle of the pack team then? Not that I would ever switch places with Penn State.......but those fuckers never get the games from Purdue or Illinois that we do. Fuck every program that only plays big against the Ohio State's of the world, then slinks back to mediocrity when they're done.

Yea, it's gonna take at least a few years (3 minimum?) to fix the mess that has amounted at Sparty. Even if nothing happens with the NCAA. Definitely seems like not a smart move, unless they empty the bank I suppose.

Last question, have you ever dreamed with the speed of a cheetah?

Others may have more, but I'd appreciate your considered responses to all these things.

Oh, one more: Green or Black.

Thanks in advance.

(If this is too confusing, the ESPN boards are -- allegedly -- much easier)

Do you know what kind of BBQ he prefers? Obvious answer is KC.
