Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

The 8 guys that have been declared ineligible due to taking over $100 in extra benefits should all receive at least a 2-game suspension, per NCAA rules on reinstatement.

Extra benefits between $100 and $300 = repayment and 10% "withholding" - the withholding being 10% of the season's games rounded up, which equals 2 games.

10% = between $100 and $300 in extra benefits (2 games)
20% = between $300 and $500 in extra benefits (3 games)
30% = over $500 in benefits in extra benefits (4 games)

Miami's second game is against tOSU.

Miami's second game is against tOSU.

Didn't realize that - assumed it was there third as well. But I'm glad. With Miami I don't want to beat them at full strength. I want them to win on a fluke play, a slip, anything that gives them an excuse and allows them to keep torturing themselves like they have been for nigh on a decade.

QB Jacory Harris and LB Sean Spence are 2 of the 8 guys declared ineligible, awaiting an NCAA decision as to when they can play. The other 6 haven't been publicly named yet.

- Food, drinks and entertainment at Shapiro's $6 million Miami Beach mansion.
- Pool tournaments for cash at Shapiro's home.
- Drinks and VIP access in nightclubs on a handful of occasions.
In Shapiro's words
- "Jacory came by. He was at my house a number of times. We played pool. He was part of the pool tournament where I put cash in each pocket. It was a double elimination tournament. There was about $500 in pool. He was there at my house a number of times [and] in the clubs with me a few times. He was around a lot of stuff."

Nevin Shapiro's cell phone providers condensed his calling records from 2002 to 2008 and deleted the booster's text messaging records prior to 2009. Despite a significant portion of his records being expunged, Yahoo! Sports was able to identify 90 calls or texts between Shapiro and Jacory Harris from July 2009 to December 2009. This is a page showing communication between the booster and a phone number linked to Harris.

This page from Shapiro's October 2008 American Express Platinum card statement shows a charge of $1,610.51 which the booster identified as a tab for alcohol in his VIP section at Cameo Theatre following Miami's home loss to Florida State that season. Shapiro said he entertained at least five players in his section that night, including Robert Marve, Randy Phillips, Jacory Harris, Dedrick Epps and Gavin Hardin.

Yahoo.Spence

- A dinner at Japanese steakhouse Benihana in 2008 which was attended by several Miami players.
- A strip club visit to The Cheetah in 2008.
- Food, drinks and entertainment at Lucky Strike Lanes including a "bowling for dollars" tournament over a weekend in September 2008.
- Food, drinks and entertainment at Shapiro's $6 million mansion in Miami Beach.
Corroborating accounts
- One source corroborated Spence and other Miami players receiving a dinner at Benihana and a strip club visit to The Cheetah in 2008 which was paid by Shapiro.
- Yahoo! Sports acquired Shapiro's September 2008 American Express black card and American Express Platinum card statements showing three charges totaling $2,114.18 from Sept. 13 to Sept. 15 at Lucky Strike Lanes. This is where the booster held his "bowling for dollars" events.

In Shapiro's words
- "Sean Spence was one of the regular guys at my house. [He] came in same time as Marcus Forston and his teammate, Jacory Harris. Met him at Benihana for the first time at a dinner I've mentioned already. From there we went to The Cheetah. I also gave him money during some of our bowling outings."

These pages from Nevin Shapiro's September 2008 American Express black card and American Express Platinum card statements show three charges totaling $2,114.18 from Sept. 13 to Sept. 15, for a series of "bowling for dollars" events with Miami football players at the upscale Lucky Strike Lanes. The tab covered drinks, food and bowling, and the charges on Sept. 15 were for a bill spanning the evening of the 14th and the early morning of the 15th. Shapiro said he held the tournaments, which paid cash to winning teams, in the off week between road games against Florida and Texas A&M. He said multiple players were in attendance, including Marcus Forston, Sean Spence, Aldarius Johnson, Randy Phillips, Travis Benjamin and JoJo Nicolas.

The suspensions will have to suffice for the excuse that "allows them to keep torturing themselves like they have been for nigh on a decade". There will be no fluke play, slip, late flag or anything else. The 'canes are going to get brutalized.

Golden and the "U" are trying a little camo on who will play. But it's easy to read between the lines of a similar to UNC situation where guys will sit for half a season and some will lose the whole season. That defense will be gutted!
