Death Magnetic - DONE

They are fucking back!! From what I am reading and hearing Ride the Lightning type stuff and heavier. I can not wait to see them live with a few good friends. :banger:

Today we finished mixing and mastering our ninth studio album of original material, "Death Magnetic" which hits the streets worldwide on Friday, September 12. Produced by Rick Rubin and recorded at Sound City Studios, Shangri La Studios, and our very own HQ. The first track and video "The Day That Never Comes" will hit the airwaves later this month. In addition, you'll be able to download every song from "Death Magnetic" for the video game "Guitar Hero III" the same day the album comes out!

The complete track listing is below:

That Was Just Your Life
The End Of The Line
Broken, Beat & Scarred
The Day That Never Comes
All Nightmare Long
Cyanide
The Unforgiven III
The Judas Kiss
Suicide & Redemption
My Apocalypse

Get ready to enter the Death Magnetic!!!!
I'm also hearing good things. Rick Rubin basically supposedly told them "you have no hit songs, you are not a legendary metal band, how do you want Metallia remembered" (paraphrased) and they came with the thrash. If this is a step back to the "Kill 'Em All", "Master of Puppets", "Ride The Lightning" and "...And Justice For All" days, I may just wet myself. I'll withhold judgement until I get my hot little hands on it, but it sounds promising.

Cyanide (live from a couple of weeks ago) is OK, not bad, some cool riffs - might sound much better on the album.
But the two taste of death clips along with the last couple of fly on the wall video's have been awesome!!

Oh for god's sake, enough with the Unforgivens. Cant somebody tell them that the second one sucked?

Ok that's terrible......sorry guys

Face it Bmax you is a Metallica hater:shake: but like the old shit rather than give the new shit a chance. At least James Hetfield doesn't growl and us fans can understand the words of the song.

Watch this album sales hit the roof like Metallica needs more $$.

Haha I loved Metallica when they were Metallica. Now they are just old and washed up. I think they should just continue touring their old stuff and stop releasing new music, cause they just dont have it anymore.

As far as understanding the words, that really helps when the lyrics are something that could have been written by a 5 year old

St Anger still made lots of money, although it was one of the worse albums I have ever heard.

I used to be a huge Metallica fan... saw them in concert a couple times and I still listen to everything up to Justice. It's been all down hill since they cut their hair.... plus since watching Some Kind of Monster and seeing how big of douchebags they really are it's hard to take them too seriously.

Now we know what Jason Newsted went through, so I kinda don't blame him for leaving the band with all the huge egos they had.

I agree, watching that documentary was pretty much the end of it for me.

I really liked the documentary, which it helped me understand where they was coming from. Think about it, you are a billionaire and you have nothing to prove to anyone anymore, so what do you have to lose a few fans to them is nothing. They lost the drive that thay once had for example, Kill Em All, RTL, MOP, Justice and some what the Black album. There was so much distention in the ranks of Metallica with Hetfields alcoholism, Lars Ulrich huge ass ego, Hazing Jason Newsted and not to mention the one who I blame for the shitty cd's after the black album Bob Rock.

Meh. I agree with BMax -- horrible lyrics

The musical part is all right. Kirk never fails on guitar, and Lars rocks on drums. However, the song does not leave me wanting to listen to it again and again like the old stuff.

It's also pretty sad that I was thinking about how over-charted this song would be on Guitar Hero during the song.

Metallica’s New Single “The Day That Never Comes”: First Review : Rolling Stone : Rock and Roll Daily

After premiering a new song from Death Magnetic called “Cyanide” during their Ozzfest set, today Metallica.com posted a trashcan-fidelity stream of “The Day That Never Comes,” the official first single from the album. The eight-minute song opens with a half-tempo groove before upping the pace near the five-minute mark, and is punctuated by lead guitar that is more about quick stabs than full-on soloing. Call it “The Unforgiven” meets “Bleeding Me” with a dash of “Am I Evil?” thrown in for the faster section, and don’t think too hard when James Hetfield reminds us that “love is a four-letter word.”

Read some of the comments:biggrin:
