Mark May (Blew 5 guys at Pitt)

Perfect timing for this thread to get hot again. I have been ready to vent about him for some time now. The thing that has really chapped my ass lately is the prevalence of double standards in his opinions. Last week Holtz was making a point about how Hawaii should be given a break for being handled by Florida because they had to travel half way across the world to play. May wouldn't even accept this as a factor leaving the only reasoning to the Gators and the mighty SEC proving dominance once again. Yet when Tenn flew all the way out to UCLA and got beat, the travel distance was the first excuse out of his mouth. The way he molds the situation to fit which ever argument he is in favor of makes me sick. Besides his asinine comments, his holier-than-thou approach and facial expressions when Holtz is talking is down right disrespectful. I know Lou is kinda crazy in his old age and I get sick of some of the things he says but the fact remains, Lou has forgot more about football than May could ever hope to learn and being coworkers, he owes Lou a little more respect. By the way Mark May, Beanie was not wearing a boot on the sideline today. I'm not sure what fantasy world you were in today, but I saw a Beanie in basketball shoes actually jumping to congratulate Boom as he returned to the sideline. Ok I feel better now.

Watching College Football Live, in which May argued that Ohio State has no shot against USC next weekend, I tried to think if he has ever argued for Ohio State with his time on ESPN.

I believe he was the only one to pick Illinois last season. It's predictable at this point that something negative regarding the Buckeyes will spew out of his mouth.

I continue to wonder if he's pissed Woody didn't recruit him or something.

1. It's clear that his role is to be the "anti-OSU" voice on ESPN. It doesn't rock with us, it makes him look like a fool, but it plays nicely with fans of other teams.

2. It's even clearer that what he says isn't an intelligent opinion, it's a role he plays to gain viewers and hold them.

3. So, given this, why the hell are you guys discussing this "college football expert." See him for what he is and laugh at the stupid things he says.

Personally, I am hoping USC players are believing him.

ESPN is taking lessons from the WWF.

Each "analyst" is just a character of a side. One is the heel (May), one is friendly enough but does or says odd stuff (Holtz and Corso and Paul MaGuire...), you have the guy who really seems to put effort in his job (Herbie and Craig James is getting a bit better at this) and you have the no namers or young guys looking for a job other than McDonald's (Jesse Palmer)....

thats all it is/they are.....

Pretty sure I remember Lou cracking about beating his Pitt Panthers when they coached, and May on air said, Don't start, he was genuinely pissed. Way to act like a spoiled child on TV Mark, I'm really starting to like ole mushmouth.

Yeah, after last season Lou is done putting up with Mark's shit. I fully expect May to take a swing at the old guy sometime before the bowls. Hopefully this will result in his ass being canned and the world gaining one more janitor.
Maybe he can join Trev-o doing analysis for sprint's mobile network
