Losing Early, Now What Needs to Happen - 2010 Chaos Theory

This year is a mess!! More so than I think I've ever seen. And if OSU were to get a BCS bowl over a one loss Wisconsin then I would almost feel bad. Big Ten is strong this year.......

Key word there is "almost" I would hope.

Personally I wouldn't come close to feeling bad.

I don't see it happening. Wiscy is not Texas Tech. They'll put 40K into the stands and turn on a shitload of television sets. If there's a 3 way 11-1 tie for the Big Ten championship, they'll get selected--and rightfully so--ahead of Ohio State.

On a national stage I'm not sure that Wisconsin is any more marketable then Texas Tech. Of course it could just as well be Sparty that's left out in a 3 way tie.

If it's Iowa that gets MSU. Then we have Iowa beating MSU, MSU beating Wiscy, Wiscy beating OSU, OSU beating Iowa. The transitive argument kind of washes out there.

Wisconsin is ahead of the bucks in the new BCS standings as well as Mizzou. LSU fell behind the Bucks. (they know the play in the SEC, right?) :)

I look for Nebraska and USC to win this week which IMO would push the bucks ahead of Mizzou and Oklahoma. I doubt Oregon would fall that far. Also need Iowa to beat MSU this week.

Go Bucks!!!

It would seem likely to me that the SEC doesn't get an at-large. After watching Auburn play this year I really don't see anyone getting in their way on the way to the title game. 'Bama will certainly have a hard time beating them with their sketchy D. LSU may or may not win out but I think it's more likely that they don't. If they DO get an at-large it certainly won't be from the East. I think at this point Arkansas is out and it's gonna be up to 'Bama or LSU to win out.

With that said, if we win out I see almost NO way we don't make a BCS game, regardless of what happens with the rest of the BigTen. After what happened in the BigTen yesterday, I really think Sparty is going to take a loss at Iowa, then we control our own destiny because at that point if we beat Iowa and everyone else wins out we win the BigTen. If Sparty loses again then we finish second in the BigTen and have a higher BCS rating than Wisky. It would be hard for the committee NOT to take us as an at-large in that scenario.

So all in all, the key is still to win the rest of our games. If we do that, there are a lot of scenarios that can play out but I don't see how we wouldn't slip in as the last of the at-large.

Have you seen Auburns defense play this year?

Yea. It's not very good, but their offense has this "fire" that I've not seen in another team this year, not even our own.

My point was that the SEC is all about O this year and Auburn just beat the best defense in the league convincingly. They look to be the only team in the conference with identity and mojo. When a team is undefeated going into this part of the year, having nobody left on the schedule but their main rival, you better bet that they're in 4th gear truckin' it down the final stretch.

wow we're going to need a lot of breaks to get in a BCS Bowl this year. NW and Iowa choking on saturday were killers.
If MSU loses once, OSU goes to the rose bowl.
If MSU loses twice, OSU is #2 and gets an at-large bid like most years.
If MSU never loses, the bowls get to choose whether they want OSU or UW ratings.
