Losing Early, Now What Needs to Happen - 2010 Chaos Theory

I understand your concerns with our team, but when it comes to the other teams there are obvious weaknesses with most/all of them

Auburn and Oregon do not have legitimate defenses

Boise State, Utah and TCU do not play teams good enough to expose any weakness they may have.

Bama is shaky in the secondary, not particularly dynamic on offense.

Yeah, I don't understand the mentality of the "fan" who doesn't want his team to have a shot at a title. Anything can happen in a game. There were plenty of people who said that tOSU had no shot in 2002, and that even a 2-loss southern cal would have been a better choice to match against miami. If for some reason, however improbable, we get into the championship game, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Not trying to bust anyone's chops here, and I hope you'll all continue your discussions after my departure, but I don't see the Buckeyes as deserving of being in the NC game this season. What happened in Madison is a microcosm of why - atrocious special teams play (continuing to last night against the woeful Goophers) is in my opinion a disqualifier. We just can't seem to get kick coverage right this season, and all the injuries to speed/skill players probably plays a huge role.

Seeing Boise play TCU wouldn't be the worst thing in the world IMO. It would point out the absurd outcomes the current system allows.

Not trying to be harsh about this. I just think some still don't fully understand the reason for this thread.

A. Bucks winning out is obviously a must. Otherwise there is no point to this.
B. We work to track teams to root against in the chance that things could go the way as in 07. Even if it is extremely unlikely.
C. This thread was created to push the mentality of hope, as I posted earlier, as a 6 grader always believes their team can win no matter the score.
D. Some don't care to think about NCG chances until they are real and prominent. That's ok. They usually stay away from this thread.
E. College football is unpredictable and the voting on teams is not an exact science and so anything can happen.
F. Some believe if the Bucks get into a title game that anything is possible and to do so you only have to reach 2 in the BCS.
G. FUN.

Please allow us our fun. We kindly ask that if you are going to post here to make it relevant to OSU's title chances and not to the Big Ten discussion or hopes of a Rose Bowl berth. There are other threads for that. Thanks.

Go Bucks.

Exactly. We are in this thread to discuss what "Chaos" must take place to get tOSU in the NC game. This isn't about "deserving" to get in, this is a discussion/debate thread about getting there.

I personally check this because I enjoy reading the theories others have regarding the Bucks chances, who people are rooting for etc.

Just win baby! Chaos is beginning, its bound to continue!

Agreed, little about pounding Pudon't and Minnesota changes what happened in Madison. Just beat Iowa. Oh and finding a way to stay healthy has now gone far beyond our need to fix special teams, which is still a big need.

Yeah

I mean it's not like what happened in Madison is the worst thing to ever happen to a national championship team or a team that PLAYED for the championship. Florida losing at home to OLE MISS in 08, LSU losing twice to mediocre teams in 07. How about Oklahoma getting BLASTED in the Big 12 title game by Kansas State (National Champion LSU was beaten by a mediocre Florida team at home that year too).

Really the Boise/TCU thing is just taking whats wrong with the BCS to an extreme. Every year at the end we really don't end up with hardly the slighest clue as to who the best team is. We've seen our own teams rewarded for playing weaker schedules (Our 07 team comes to mind) whereas imo the Big Ten is being hurt this year for being so strong at the top. You put the top 8 in a playoff..the regular season doesn't become diminished. This isn't the NFL where 8-8 teams are getting into the playoffs, it's 120 teams competing for 8 slots, the great games in the Big Ten this year really don't become that much less important and you get all the excitement of letting them decide it on the field

So once the dust clears everyone will see that OSU is in a similar position from last week. The only difference is that we now need Okla/Neb or both to lose before the B12CG and the other team to win. ALA/LSU and UTAH/TCU is next week and so 2 teams will fall past us on our bye week. If LSU wins, we could use Arkansas' help. If ALA wins, we could use a similar situation to the Big12. One team or both to lose before the SECCG and the other losing in that game.

Wisky still isn't in the clear from what I see. Yes they are ahead in spots, but points wise it isn't that big of a gap. A solid win(7+) at Iowa clears that gap up pretty fast. We could use style points now against State Penn and scUM. And I know it's a longshot but Cryami to win the ACC. I still think if we win out we end at least in the top 5 of the BCS. Possibly better according to upsets that could happen.

WTF, We have done nothing but win the last two weeks, and watched teams ahead of us loose, but we havent moved up once. Are we gonna move up alot when we beat Iowa?

Next 2-3 weeks should be huge if we win and win decisively.
