Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Yeah, no point in him taking less money to carry a has-been and a miscast 6'11 perimeter player. He can take a max deal and team up with Dwight Howard and James Harden, who are in their primes.

I don't know why he won't do this - Howard isn't a guy who will ever float out to the 3 point line, and he's a presence underneath the basket so LeBrick won't get beaten on for 82+ games a year trying to play the 4 or 5 since the 6'11 guy on the court plays the 3.

And Harden is where Bitchwade was when they got Shaq to come to Miami. Assuming Howard's back holds together, I could see them ripping off 2 or 3 titles in a row.

Agreed. West or not, the Heat with James aren't in the same ballpark as the Rockets with James.

Houston can't give him a max deal unless they find someone to take Lin off their hands while taking back nothing, and renounce all their free agents. So, they'd have a big 3 and a roster of nothing.

The Rockets may not play enough defense to get out of the West, even with LeBron.

I see LeBron and the others taking less money, but even if they do, what's the best case scenario? Napier, Lowry, Wade, LeBron, Bosh, and some washed up old vets? Ray Allen was already a liability on defense. Now so is Wade and whatever other pieces they'd have. I think LeBron goes back to Miami, but it doesn't make sense financially or given their roster. The Heat would finish around 3rd in the East depending on what Chicago does (primarily how Derrick Rose is). Up-and-coming Eastern Conference teams like Washington could also give them problems. Not sure what LeBron does, but Miami doesn't make sense.

This free agency has been fun so far. Notice how the Big 3 aren't even taking any trips? No one is falling for it this time. Nobody is getting played.

lowry to toronto. gortat stays in washington. pau gasol is looking like he's going to okc. luol deng flat out says he isn't taking a pay cut. the heat are seriously looking at guys like spencer hawes and kris humphries, and if bosh does insist on getting $80 to $90 million, then even those guys may be unattainable. miami may well be a sinking ship.

Hawes? Good fit in Cleveland, but the last thing the Heat need is another big that likes to play from 15 feet out.

So if the Heat aren't able to bring in any of the big names what is the next move. Go into the season with a worse team than last year and get bounced by the Pacers or Bulls?

I think the next move would bye bye Lebron and Miami fades back into mediocrity. Houston seems like a smart career move at this point for him.

houston still has to renounce all their free agents, including parsons, and find someone to take on jeremy lin without sending anything back in return. and even then, they'd really pretty much be a big 3 like miami, with not much around them. plus lebron hates dwight howard, and howard is a mental midget. add to that houston being in the western conference, and i'd hardly call it a smart career move.

As free agency goes on, the salaries being thrown around are essentially pricing miami out of making any significant upgrades. LeBron isn't going to go back to play with Bosh, what's left of diane wade and essentially the same-calibre supporting cast. Losing to San Antonio, or more accurately, how badly they lost to San Antonio probably was the death rattle of the "big three." I think LeBron saw that you don't need two other superstars to win a title. You need a couple of other very good players and a very deep bench. At this point, I've done a total 180 on him going back to Miami. I'd be pretty surprised if he does. Where he goes, I have no clue. I thought Houston, but tsteele makes some good points about them. Maybe Phoenix? I still don't think the Cavs have much of a shot, if any at all, though.
