Freeman said, "I loved my time at Ohio State… but Notre Dame offers you something that nowhere else in the country can give you, and that’s the opportunity to win a national championship."
1) Every team in America has the opportunity to win a national championship, but an elite few have the resources to do it and the necessary experience.
2) Notre Dame is not one of those teams. They finished ranked in the top 5 only three times in the last 25 years and played for the national championship only once in a blowout loss.
3) Ohio State is one of those teams, with 2 national championships, 6 NC college football playoffs, and 15 top 5 finishes in the last 25 years.
4) Ohio State is a top 50 "Public Ivy" ranked as a peer of Notre Dame in most educational departments and offering a far broader set of majors and specialties.
Not to offend you, but he explicitly said something untrue and very stupid and implied that Notre Dame had several advantages over Ohio State that it does not.
That’s not what he said… he listed three things that as a package were making his point, not that each of the three would stand alone individually. There was no “period” at the end of the championship part of the quote.
I actually agree with the sentiment that it was still a stupid quote (with all three of his points) and is probably an indicator of other issues that will come up. But taking that comment and saying he said come to ND if you want to win championships is _______.
