LB David "Boom" Perkins (transfer to Illinois State)

Bump...Perry, Williams, Marcus and Roberts should get a bump too. In the middle of wrapping up a current class it's easy to forget last year's class. Urban says he likes competition. I expect their to be some MAJOR competition for the LB spot. All these guys along with Johnson, Mitchell and possibly Worley know what is on the line: significant playing time on a NC calibler team. Think about that for a minute. You can't expect that from many top tier schools so early in your career. I expect spring practice to be intense for the 2012 guys. Can't wait to see that happen and then kick up a notch when the new guys come in during the fall. The cream will rise to the top and the competitive culture will be exactly what we need. It was shocking to see how far our LB play had fallen last year. Coming off that I just can't wait to see this competition happen. Perkins should be right in the thick of it.

Yeah I agree. Can't wait to see what the young pups will do next year at LB. Weve stocked up on some good young talent, we just need to harness that talent. I can't wait to see what boom can do. He has some very good athleticism and speed
Also, darron lee could be added to this depth as well, he amd worley have similar body types and could both project at S or LB. The future is looking bright.

Definitely a LB. Fast OLB. He's got all the physical gifts and is an athletic specimen. Now he needs to work hard at being a football player. I'm told that he can disappear at times, but I think that's more about youth than anything.

Disappear at times....prophetic.

LB David Perkins elects to transfer
May, 30, 2013
By Austin Ward | ESPN.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The school mascot might feel safer with David Perkins leaving, but his departure will provide one more body blow for Ohio State?s depth at linebacker.

Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer confirmed the sophomore?s intentions to transfer on Thursday, leaving the bone-rattling hit Perkins put on Brutus during a spring scrimmage as the lasting memory of his career with the program.

?Perkins is going to try to move on,? Meyer said. ?I don?t know where or whatever, but it?s mutual and we wish him well.

?Any time you lose [a guy], it?s disappointing. But that?s the business, and he sees himself behind another player who is going to be here for a couple years and someone is guiding him, but it?s not like it was a nasty breakup. We wish him well.?
