A David Perkins from South Bend, Indiana appears in a Bowling Green police blotter from last weekend. http://www.bgnews.com/blotter/blotter-for-friday-may-through-sunday-may/article_a6268862-c82d-11e2-8e18-001a4bcf887a.html ?

Onebuckfan;2342539; said:I can see transferring if their is a coaching or coordinator change or academic issues but transferring because two freshman show up on campus doesn't show much self confidence. But in reality if David doesn't want to compete then tOSU is not the place for him. Urban loves competition.
buchtelgrad04;2342560; said:I don't think it had anything to do with the incoming freshmen. I think it had more to do with Josh Perry being ahead of him for the next few years. And someone transferring doesn't always have anything to do with someone's competitive fire. Sometimes it's about making the best decision for you future, and that includes playing time.
Linebacker leaves
Meyer confirmed that sophomore linebacker David Perkins has left the program. Perkins, who hails from South Bend, Ind., had a strong spring and gained notoriety for a hit on mascot Brutus during a team practice in April, but he was going to step back behind starter Ryan Shazier in the fall. Perkins received permission to look into other schools several weeks ago.
?Anytime you lose a player it?s disappointing but ? he sees himself behind another player who is going to be here for a couple of years, and someone is guiding him,? Meyer said. ?But it?s not like it was a nasty breakup. We wish him well.?
In rebuttal let me present Joe Flacco, who "couldn't compete and start" at the University of Pittsburgh.Onebuckfan;2342596; said:I would hope getting a good education and planning for a career after football would trump everything, if he thinks transferring will insure him of a better chance of an NFL carreer he is mis-guided. If you can't compete and start at tOSU your shot at the NFL is small.
