John Calipari (official thread of impending probation)

Kentucky sits at 4-3 and has fallen out of the rankings for the first time under Calipari. This team might still gel and go on a run, but it shows that it's not always about reeling in classes loaded top-to-bottom with 5* kids. Chemistry is pretty important.

Particularly when your entire freshman class has a single-minded focus on impressing the NBA so they will be a lottery pick next Summer.

Al Capone with a baseball bat couldn't get these guys to think bout TEAM.

That's what made last years team so good. They bought into the team mentality from the get go. Should be an interesting year for that squad.

Yet ESPiN shows their highlights on a game that wasn't on their air vs. Samford after one of their college games that they showed just ended. Amazing that ESPiN is pimping UK at a time when they could show NBA highlights or something else that more people would care about. This UK team might have the most exposure of any unranked team playing Samford in the history of college basketball.

Let’s focus on rules that matter and let our kids eat

Under the current rules, if a young man eats at our training table and wants to take some food for later, he can’t. It’s either eat it all there or go hungry the rest of the night.

We have a kitchen here that should be open for these kids whenever they want to eat. What do they do if they’re at home and they want a sandwich at night? They walk down to the kitchen and get it. My own son does that at home. Here, under the current rules we have, we can’t.

I somewhat agree with what Calipari is saying. But can every school give their players the same preferential treatment (own private dorm, kitchen, etc.) Kentucky gives their players? No.
