Izzo meets with the Cavs to discuss job offer.

The latest from Windhorst... :2004:

LeBron's position makes business sense. From Izzo perspective, hard to count on LeBron if he won't talk about future. This is new normal. 9 minutes ago via web

My take: LeBron thinks Izzo is a good coach but he's not going to talk to him about #Cavs job. If Izzo accepts, will be blind on LBJ future. 10 minutes ago via web

A source today: LeBron respects coach Izzo but continues his plan not to get involved with #Cavs coach search or speak to candidates. 14 minutes ago via web

The same Windbag who said Izzo would decide on Saturday? If Izzo accepts, Lebron stays. Done.

Not saying I disagree with you, but I wonder if Izzo's desire not to take a leap of faith will prevent him from leaving MSU. If so, a terrible situation for the Cavs--LeBron may leave because he didn't get a great coach, but the reason the Cavs didn't get a great coach could be because LeBron refused to say anything prior to July 1. Seems kind of ridiculous to me--Wade has come out and said he'll stay in Miami, so why can't LeBron do the same?

Lansing (Mich.) television station WLNS reported on Sunday that Izzo is waiting to speak directly with James, which the station reported had not happened as of Sunday night.
I mean if Lebron isn't going to tell Gilbert if he is going to sign why in the world would anybody think he is going to tell Izzo and what the hell is Izzo waiting for anyway.

Lebron has this franchise by the balls. No pun intended.

He's even beginning to piss off people in his inner circle. Folks that we grew up with are getting tired of his "pretty, but stuck-up, girl in high school" routine. Our peewee football coach, who helped raise us both, has been constantly telling Lebron to speak with the Cavs front office. He views it as unfair to Dan and the gang.

Most people around here know Lebron isn't really worried about winning, he's all about building his brand and becoming that billionaire he wants to be. If he was worried about championships, he would've committed years ago so other guys would've wanted to come. Like the Ariza situation last year, when they reported Bron told him he was staying in Cleveland, then Lebron's camp went out of their way to deny that report.

although, in Lebrons defense, he did say all along he would test the market and that can't be done until July 1. So it's not like any of this is surprising.

The whole "test the market" thing is a crock. Guys like Anderson Varejao test the market. For LeBron the market is set - he gets a max deal wherever he wants to go. It's really about him being wined and dined and talked about.

He's turning into the Brett Favre of the NBA. I still want him back, but if he does come back it's going to be different for me. If he leaves, I'm almost to the point where I'm going to be more upset about the paralysis the team has been in all offseason because of him than I will be by his actual absence.

Bingo.

My prediction regarding Izzo: In three (maybe fewer) days, he announces that he's staying at MSU because he loves the school, loves his current players, and loves his team's chances this year. Meanwhile, sources close to Izzo say that he would have agreed to become the Cavs next head coach if he only could have talked to LeBron and gotten some reassurance that LeBron would re-sign.

I never actually heard "test the market" (not saying it wasn't said). It's a completely different thing with Lebron. He's testing to see how the free agency shakes out to see what is the best situation for him. He won't have a good idea of that for a little while.

I completely agree with your prediction. I'll go a step further and say that Izzo would be making the absolute correct decision to turn down the Cavs' job. He has a good thing going in East Lansing. Don't throw it away to come to this sinking ship.
