Izzo meets with the Cavs to discuss job offer.

If he stays, it's because he's scared of the challenge of coaching without Lebron on his team. End of story. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but what kind of a challenge is it taking over a team with the best player on the planet on it.

It's a challenge that bested Mike Brown. Don't know what level of difficulty that makes it.

Or maybe, just maybe... he's trying to put himself in the best situation for his future. Maybe coaching the Cavs with LeBron is a better job then MSU, but MSU is a much better job than being the Cavs coach without LeBron.

Ridiculous. There are a million different reasons.

Lebron unsigned.
Coaching in Cleveland after LeBron is unattractive (and if they don't win in 3-4 years, LeBron will want a trade)
Job security.
Satisfaction from job.
Family.
Comfort.
Franchise Control.
Cleveland.
Cleveland Sports.
Lebron Coachability.
etc.

Right, because talent erases major chemistry & ego issues ... especially in a city plagued by half a century of failure (and now a career halfway to matching that despite the expectations).

Being reported all over the place Izzo has rejected Cleveland's 30 mil offer to stay at MSU. My money is on Izzo never even getting a return call from LeBron. Not even a call to say "I won't say anything because I don't want to influence your decesion one way or the other."

Byron Scott is next on tap it sounds like, but he reminds me of Avery Johnson in a lot of ways. Played in the NBA, but his analysis is pretty weak and sometimes makes you wonder if he really understands the game at a Jeff Van Gundy/Doug Collins level. I think the longer they wait, the more Calipari comes into play as a last ditch effort to keep LeBron. That might be the only thing the Cavs have left to even make LeBron pause. If LeBron were quietly leaning towards staying, there's no way Izzo rejects the job.

This sucks but I'm not too surprised, Lebron is about Lebron and thats clear now. I don't blame him completely but it is what it is. This won't slow Gilbert down, look for the Cavs to try to make some bold moves around draft time and if the rumors of 30 million for Izzo are true, I don't see why he won't offer Phil or somewhere else the same if the opportunity presents itself. Gilbert is not going to go down without a fight though I will assure that.

I applaud Dan Gilbert for continuing to demonstrate the lengths to which he is willing to go to build a winner. It will be a shame if/when he is forced to decide to cut payroll in order to make ends meet.

I guess he shouldn't have hitched his wagon to an attention whore.

If Lebron signs somewhere else, he'll look like a genius.

Lebron basically has the franchise by the balls. They are not going to get a quality coach until they find out what he does.
is there any doubt he's signing somewhere else? he'd be "100% on board" with Izzo as coach....but he won't give Izzo 5 seconds to say 'I'll come back if you coach'. LeBron is LeGone.
