Illinois Fighting Illini (you'll see)

That '95 game was billed as a Clash of the Titans between those guys and Orlando Pace. Eddie gets all the credit for that record setting performance, but Pace smacked around the best Illini defenders since Butkus like it was Bambi vs Godzilla

I will never forget reading the paper the day of that game, I was 13 and had to go read it to my dad because there was a quote from Orlando asking what he thought of Simeon Rice. He said, "Yea, he is pretty strong for little guy." Always loved that.

Juice williams did a little something for the illini. As did brandon lloyd

The Illini had a hell of a receiver corp in 2002 with Lloyd, Walter Young, Aaron Moorehead and Greg Lewis. 25 years of NFL experience out of that crew. Young in particular was tough for Fox due to his 6-5 frame.

Off the line, Diehl and Pashos have 222 career NFL starts between them.

RB Dami Ayoola dismissed from the team. He was one of the endless string of kids the past few years that thakid touted as "big time" based mainly on the fact he was from Florida. Career stats?
11 games
25 carries
122 yards
2 td
9 receptions
12 yards

Guess he was just a little of on this one.

In other news, the illini are only 9 point dogs to the juggaloes this weekend. I'm willing to wager the faygo chuggers drop half a hundy on them.

FCS also-ran SIU (6-5 last year) rolled up 407 yards (341 passing) and 34 points on them, and were making the game interesting as the whistle sounded...

Fucking Illinois. If there was one week in one year for you to redeem yourselves in the eyes of your Big Ten brethren, it is this week. Put an end to juggalo madness and shut that clown of a juggalo President the hell up!
If Zooker was still there, I'd say it was possible. That crazy bastard would occasionally bumble into a win in games like this. But, with Elmer Fudd running things now, they're gonna get drubbed. Much faygo will be chugged.

Illinois continues to clean up on the recruiting trail. Their scout forum is reporting a commit from a:

2* NR Tight End

Other offers?
Fla Atlantic
Idaho
Liberty
Missouri State

Beckman cleaning up against FCS schools on the recruiting trail this year.

I know he doesn't have the star rating of some other TEs but looking at his film, he's got NFL stud written all over him, he's probably going to leave after his Jr. year. He's that good. Just wait. You'll see.

I haven't looked at his tape, but this is typical of the lower tier big ten schools. They find guys that they see something in that the recruiting services and other schools don't notice. Kids with the right attitude and the athletic potential that has can be coached up. I'm not saying they have a shot a Bama or tOSU. But kids like this would likely be recruited by other mid level schools in major conferences, but those schools don't have nearly the recruiting budget to find a kid like that if he's far from home. Good for Illinois. Look at schools like Oregon, who got to where they are by coaching up a bunch of jilted 3* recruits. Now they can recruit decent (last year they had as many 2&3 star recruits as they had 4&5 stars) but the classes that got them there (pre 2010) were mostly built with 3* guys with as many 2*s as 4*s and a couple top playmakers sprinkled in.

This probably explains why the Big Ten is widely recognized as the gold standard of college football.

Oregon got where they are by paying for the best recruiting information available. And only 25k per recruit....

You take that back! There is only one gold standard.
