These are now celebrated as "great pickups", and has them looking forward to 2014.

Snagged another recruit last week, NR ** OLB whose only other offer was Texas State and directional/ocean Florida schools.

Of their 14 commits, only 5 of them hold other BCS offers, the best being Northwestern and Syracuse, depending on which you prefer. Illini continue to clean house.

This from his commitment thread:

According to 247Sports he's visiting today and people are projecting he's visiting to commit onsite. Has some nice offers with SFlorida, CFlorida and Fla Atlantic.

They're from Florida, they MUST be good offers! Their recruiting threads compared to a couple of years ago are night/day. On the plus side, they OWN Texas State in recruiting. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

It's drained. Zook hadn't recruited particularly well since 2009. Now, they're beating out Texas State, South Dakota, and directional Floridas for recruits. 95% of the top instate kids are ignoring them. I remember a reasonably level-headed illini poster in this thread bemoaning Ron Turner's "two-star specials". Well, guess what? :lol:

That '95 game was billed as a Clash of the Titans between those guys and Orlando Pace. Eddie gets all the credit for that record setting performance, but Pace smacked around the best Illini defenders since Butkus like it was Bambi vs Godzilla
