If defensive staff changes are coming, who should OSU be looking to hire?

The guy at Florida, Durkin looks like a perfect fit. Coached LBers and DEs. Coached with Urban.
But you still need a defensive backs coach. Maybe someone like Vance Joseph, recently released with the coaching change at the NFL Texans, would be interesting.

DJ Durkin is the biggest asshole I ever played against. I know he's been with Meyer since BG, but I really don't want him at OSU if he coaches anything like how he played. Nut punches, bottom of the pile shenanigans, etc.

Dantonio's defenses aren't exactly known for being clean- at Ohio State or now.

Is it possible that being "dirty" helps on D?

There's something to that... Perhaps not crossing too far over the line to gain a rep for being a scum bag (intentional), but never straying too far away from the line either... It's a physical game... Shit's always gonna happen. Better it happen to them than to you.

Vrabel left on his own. Let's not forget he and BOB were both in New England for a couple of years.

This give Meyer the flexibility he needs to swing for the fences with this DC hire...arguably his most important hire to date.
Disagree. There is no argument to be had. Get the new jobs filled properly.... a few NC are on the line.

I would love to see a 3-4, but my opinion is that we have too much talent on the line (and too little talent at LB).
The only shot in the foot would be the lack of depth at ILB. I would love seeing Marcus or Spence as rush LBs, if they did end up switching schemes. I think those two could not only thrive, but become two of the biggest playmakers on the defensive side.

Bosa-Bennett-Washington
Marcus-Mitchell-Perry-Spence

For a base defense, that's a pretty nice front 7
