If defensive staff changes are coming, who should OSU be looking to hire?

What about these names for DC? Some of them have shown flashes of brilliance, others maybe could just better athletes, and well one I would just love to poach to begin with.

John Chavis
Kirby Smart
Pat Narduzzi
Rocky Long
Bud Foster
Dave Aranda
Mike Elko
Tracy Claeys

I could be wrong, but I think MSU just re-upped with Narduzzi when they re-upped with Dantonio in the week leading up to the Rose Bowl.

I think there's little chance we get Chavis or Smart--they're both at powerhouse institutions and they've spent their entire coaching careers in the south. I'm just not sure I see them leaving the south for OSU.

Narduzzi's out due to the new contract.

I think Long's too old and probably wouldn't leave a HC position (even at SDSU) for a coordinator position.

Foster I guess I could see, but would he leave VT after being there forever?

I wonder if Aranda or Claeys would leave another Big Ten institution to become the DC at OSU. It would be interesting to see.

Elko doesn't have the proven track record to become DC at OSU, I don't think.

If it were up to most people the OSU defensive staff would look like this:

DL - Mike Vrabel
LBs - Pepper Johnson
Co-CBs - Shawn Springs or Antoine Winfield
Safeties - Mike Doss
DC - Chris Spielman

Heck, if it were up to most people, they would be the starting 2014 defense (along with the ghost of Jack Tatum as the 12th man).

Texas: Former Louisville defensive coordinator Vance Bedford tweets that he will interview to be on Charlie Strong's staff, but he has not been hired. Meahwhile, Bruce Feldman reports that Oklahoma State offensive line coach Joe Wickline is in the mix for the offensive line job at Texas

Wonder if Meyer has reached out to Vance... that would be a good S/DB/Co-DC hire
