Smokin'! 88 degrees. Los Alamos wild fire is still generating a lot of smoke and it drifts north when the wind dies. Residents heading back to town. Hoping for monsoon rain to wet everything down. Fire has hit an old burn area which will help firefighters.

I agree about the "haboob" term...this is the first I've heard it and I've lived here almost 20 years. I will call it a dust storm because I live in an entirely different kind of desert than that of true "haboobs" and the culture that uses that term.

Find me one native resident of Phoenix who calls this a "haboob".

Lived in Arizona all my life. Never once have ever heard it called a "haboob"

I have lived in Arizona for 36 years and we have NEVER before called a dust storm a Haboob! This is AMERICA not the MIDDLE EAST! Quit trying to make our country MUSLIM.
