HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

See ya.

Know what else has gotten worse? The team that we all root for.

Go back to Bucknuts
Wait, so we win the games we are supposed to and that’s getting worse ? I don’t know what people expect. Urban got blown out in games he was supposed to win. It seems like we are having a bit of revisionist history here. Day has a higher win percentage in games that we are clearly supposed to win but that’s lost because it doesn’t fit your narrative. Days had a couple of ugly losses but most of those were during the Coombs year or against TCUN and they had to cheat to do that. It seems like people keep establishing bull crap reasons to hate Day, even though we love Urban and Tressel who had more losses to teams we “should have beat”.

I agree with much of what you say. However, Ryan Day is employed by tOSU, not the players on the team. tOSU pays him alot of money to win football games and, yes, championships. Certainly, developing players who are then successful in the NFL is helpful in recruiting, but that is not the ultimate goal. Winning games and championships is.
OSU pays him good money to win and run a clean program. He does both. Winning championships is a bonus. Now he definitely has the talent to win championships but only one coach a year can say theyve done that. For that to be an expectation of job performance means a lot of us fans are going to get disappointed year in and year out. We are spoiled with this expectation. It’s a bonus to win one. We should expect to beat TCUN and he has fallen short there. But the things he should do outside of that, have been mostly done.

Preseason hype on the Bucks was a run for the NC, so much talent, and depth. I’m not seeing the depth. The rest still stands, but without depth it seems to be more than this team can deliver.
Because sizzle sells, but steak is what actually matters.

They had 1.5 offensive tackles before the season began. All of the fancy toys in the world do not matter if your table that you put them on falls down.

We're a bunch of spoiled, entitled brats.

This fanbase needs an enema. Or a 4 loss season to clean out the fair weather people...

Expectations are a Bitch, no

Perhaps we should not forget that expectations for the team were so high because so much was invested in the team. Unreasonably high expectations don't explain poor decision making by the coaches. Neither do "bad bounces" of the ball. Coach Day needs to see the last two games as a wake-up call. There is a small chance of an epic crash, but he can still turn this around. Now is not the time for pitchforks and tiki torches. It is time to continue strong support for the coaches and players.

Meyer's teams lose last Saturday. We could count on one of those just about every year and I was there in 2007 when Tressel got Illini-ed at home. This one didn't let that happen. This team could still do what we all thought/hoped or it could go the other way. We'll know this Saturday.
Who remembers 2014 when if it wasn't for Jaylin Marshall single handedly winning the game against Indiana that the season would have been lost? Teams have bad games. ( that one was also the week before TCUN IIRC) Are there issues? yep. Can they be corrected? We'll see. But right now every goal the team had is still in reach.

This. It's football. Heck for any sport if you've played you know how hard it is to win games. Too many times (and I include myself in this) we get caught up in the video game view of our favorite teams. Not everything is played in a vacuum and things aren't always going to be perfect. Human beings are funny. They have emotions, worries, etc. Hell a guy could think his girlfriend is cheating on him so he isn't 10000% locked in, he could've failed a test the day before, his mom could be sick etc....At the end of the day just win and advance. On to the next one.

I disagree.

Ryan Day is hired to (1) produce successful "graduates" of The Ohio State University, and (2) to increase the value of the Buckeye football brand, both of which he is performing very well. If he wins a few football games along the way, then so much the better.

I mean, it was one bad game. And yes, it was a really bad game. Considering opponent it's probably the worst performance from an OSU team since...the Iowa & Purdue debacles? OSU was incredibly fortunate to get the win with such a performance.

But, Nebraska game aside, the team has performed up to (or even exceeded) expectations in every other game this season, including Oregon.

I completely disagree that this team has underwhelmed all season long. I'd argue that's even factually incorrect.

That being said, I'd be lying if I said my faith wasn't hanging by a thread right now. I am certainly fascinated to see how they respond against Penn State, for the first time in ages I'm legitimately concerned about losing to them. Hopefully this Nebraska game was just a blip on the radar and they get back to the standard...we'll see.
Ummmm, yep, and add the bowl game against Mizzou.
