HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

You’re very wise for not being sober lol…

I’m not making this political but JD Vance said something when being interviewed by Theo Von that really struck a cord with me. He said more or less that only one team wins it in the end so the likelihood your team wins isn’t great. That sometimes he wonders if it’s even worth it because it’s likely your season ends in misery.

Sometimes I wish I wasn’t a fan because it’s days like today that are the absolute worst. I think Ryan Day is a great man but I have to say I think both parties need a fresh start.

The problem is who can we hire that’s on par with Ryan who literally is the winners active coach?

My literal first though was Jim Tressel but he’s too old and the same goes for Nick Saban who is older than Jim. The only true rock star is Urban Meyer but do we really want that? No clue…

Urban is only 60 years old and he could go another 10 years if Nick Saban can coach until 72.

I just don’t think this is working out for either party but we should absolutely not do anything stupid until we know we can get someone who’s proven.

My vote is for finishing out this year and when we likely lose we part ways with Day and throw 15-20 million at Dan Lanning.

you mean like keep the coach who HAS proven he can't win the big game?

The problem is Day has shown himself to be a fucking head case in these kinds of games except maybe the Indiana game.

He might win one, maybe two depending on matchup, but there's no way in hell he's making it all four games without peeing down his leg.

The special teams mess we have is enough reason alone to laugh at the thought of winning those 4 games in a row. This team and coaching staff isn’t good enough to soundly beat better teams so those games are liable to come down to FGs and what not.

It’s hard to state how unfathomable bad this game was.

The game-plan
The execution
The game management

Too be honest, if Day was going to give up play calling to be more involved in the entirety of the team, it’s been a colossal failure. He fucked up TO’s yet again under 3 minutes in the fourth Q. It neutered the amount do time we should’ve had.

Not as easy of a call but certainly in the moment, it really felt like with Michigans FG kicker, if we punted the ball back, you’re strongly looking at a game winning FG attempt for Michigan. You really have to weigh risk/reward there and the data absolutely says you go for it on 4th & 1 instead of punting it back with 5 mins into that wind.

But unfortunately I think Day has really fallen into a trap of being something he isn’t. He tries to project a roughness in his team and decision making but has suffered from leaning into his own teams strengths.

Just can’t believe how bad this team of studs has performed this year. Truly a sickening feeling.

Get a grip? I'm not sure what prompted that response.

I'm not really interested in winning 10 games. I'm a lot more interested in winning national championships. Ryan Day has kept Ohio State in the national championship picture from 2019 to 2024, and the Buckeyes could still easily win the NC this season (primarily due to the competition being less than stellar). I don't know who Ohio State could hire that would get this team over to actually win NCs as opposed to merely being in the hunt. If you have any suggestions, please post them.

Yeah that is my big thing as well. I don't know who exists out there that can win in this day and age. If one looks at other coaches out there, even so called hot names, they lose games they should not.

As OSU fans, we have to accept that these are new times, and that CFB is increasingly more like the NFL. Losing against a rival is not going to be as big of a deal a decade from now. It just won't.

3 loss teams aren’t jumping ahead of us. Bama and Ole Miss both have 2 losses to unranked Michigan type teams. We are in.
They also aren’t putting the ratings champions on the outside either. Not to mention a fan base that travels.

Another point I’d like to state is we haven’t played well in our biggest games overall this year. Indiana we played ok but we sucked vs Oregon and then should’ve pounded PSU but kept them in the game too.
