HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

This is OSU... we get the Kirby Smarts. Meyer pushed us to another expectation and that is to win national championships. OSU isn't going to chance their program with a small school unknown.

Vrabel is the only splashy name with Ohio roots, but can he recruit?

This is OSU but in my lifetime they had to go get a Tressel so not sure I agree that it has to be a current P5 big name. In fact, the current dearth of P5 big names makes me think a lower level up and comer is the only viable solution.

Fickell is obviously the first name on the list. If he says no, I can see a call being made to Bob Stoops.

If both of those guys are out, I’d call Kyle Whittingham. Obviously he’s not an Ohio guy but if you’re looking for someone who can run a program, he’s not a bad look.
Why does there need to be an OH guy? Saban ain’t a AL guy, Kirby Smart isn’t a GA guy.Heck, Urban wasn’t a FL guy! But all of this is moot. Day winning the Game in ‘23 and fans will forget the posts on these pages just like they forgot their complaining about Urban’s stale play calling and bone headed coach hirings. Now he’s seen as a messiah :roll1:

And firing the HC doesn’t solve all of your problems. Message board guys pointing out all of the issues also doesn’t mean they won’t be corrected. I guess that’s what the off season is for. I guess scUM should’ve fired Hairball after year 3 and they’d be in a much better position by now, if they listened to message board guy who was emotional on his couch…

Not having a no brainer replacement out there and obvious to message board guys doesn't make Day the answer folks.

I give up.

Are you actually calling for Day to fired in the next week or are trying to we have no hope in the future, we will begin to slide and eventually he will get shit canned without another B1G title.

If it’s the former good luck getting a top flight pool of candidates who would be willing to take a job where you win 90% of your games, win 2 B1G titles, make the CFP 2 (maybe 3 times, lose to Michigan twice and get shit canned.

I’m blocking you for mentioning Bob Stoops.
Holy Christ that’s dumb.

Yeah I don't think you NEED an Ohio guy. You just need a ruthless bastard if you want to go that route. I have no doubt Saban would dragging Harbaugh up and down the field each year if he were at OSU.

Maybe to Fick, no to Big Game Bob, and a big Hell no to Kyle.

If Day is willing to give up play calling, this team is fine. Being a HC in the current climate, is different than in the past. Play calling AND being a HC is incredibly difficult now. Day should delegate more, imo. These are growing pains lumps that a 1st time HC has to deal with. This program is still in good hands, imo. But the play calling has been predictable and stagnant for weeks. And Dayas gotten stubborn like Meyer became. He needs to correct that

How many issues did Day correct last off season? This one is going to be different because...?

I've said many times they won't fire him this year.

I have said they need to start recognizing he isn't the guy and not let it go one for another 9-13 years like they did with Earl and Cooper because yes, there is legitimate concern that slide is coming.

Knowles concerns me now as well with how the game transpired, scUM clearly figured out ways to beat what he was doing and he refused to adjust until it was much too late, even then he adjusted into getting gashed by Donovan Edwards. That's now a big concern now along with Days unwillingness to give up play calling duties. Having 2 stubborn guys running the offense and defense is just going to result in this same result year after year.
