HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Another recurring theme for a few years now. Something I'd hoped would be cleaned up by week fucking twelve with a new, supposedly improved, defensive staff.

NFL DB's "Shoulder".

The only way to clean it up is "bench" but since we have questionable depth in the secondary that probably cannot happen. I know Saban used to bench at Bama for bad tackling.

Everyone needs a little perspective from time to time.

For years, my mood was influenced heavily by the results of these games. An OSU loss meant I was a miserable bastard for a few days. After we lost the game in 2003, my GF at the time basically broke up with me because I was just a dick for too long.

Growing older and building a family has mellowed me significantly. And honestly, the seismic changes going on within CFB as a whole are sapping me of some of my passion. Yeah, I'm bummed/pissed we lost, but I'll go to bed in a little while, wake up tomorrow, and go on with life without any side effects from today.

Life's too short/precious to get too wrapped up by this shit.

That said, GODDAMNIT, RYAN DAY.

I feel you bro, I have no voice left from screaming at the game and this site is my morning news. But my family and friends (and of course my dog Urban) are more important and this whole trip back has reminded me of that big time.

With that said, dammit Day! Our offensive strategy was to run it with our 5th string RB converted from LB almost the entire 2nd half? I just sat there in disbelief.

The general consensus NFL openings for 2023 (outside of retirements):

Arizona
Carolina
Denver
Houston
Indianapolis
New Orleans

Sean Payton will probably take one. Ryans on SF will probably take one and Philly's OC will probably get one. So that leaves three.

Don't think Ryan Day has ties to any of the six owners or GM's.

Lotta thoughts circling in my head right now, and would prob be better served to save some of it for a more sober moment…….but:

-I’m less disappointed with playcalling and execution than the discipline of the team in general. We got abused physically……but mentally as well. (2) personal fouls……one from Cade Stocer which was brutal. Gee Scott owes the team an apology for his. But good teams don’t do that shit…..period.

-The defense was atrocious today….we see it. I’ve never seen tOSU corners this bad in consecutive years ever. Worst CB performances I’ve seen since my time watching Bucks around 1989 that out CB’s have been this consistently bad. I mean……..they are awful. They’re college kids so I’ll leave it there…..is what it is.

-Weird that Haden wasn’t in the ganeplan most of game. Chip played well and was a nice wrinkle but confused why Dallan was relegated to a minimal role.

-Horrible day for Cade Stover to have worst game of his career. He was awful today. Could’ve made the 4th and 2 catch. Should’ve made the TD catch that got knocked away. And he cost us a huge 15 yards with a personal foul. Don’t know if he was just frustrated or out of sync but he went for a huge strength to a major weakness today.

-We have serious soul searching to do…..our team is incredibly soft. Period. There are valid reasons to believe this but bottom line, Michigan has made this team their bitch 2 years in a row. We continue to be better on paper, but that doesn’t mean anything when you keep taking L’s.

Curious how this team looks next year. Would not be surprised at all if we see a few major roster adjustments via the portal……including QB to be honest. We’ll see…..

Yes. If there's an upgrade out there Ryan owes it to the university to pursue every avenue. If that means upsetting a room then who cares.

That said, there's no amount of "leadership" counsels we can create to right the ship. Bottom line is that until we build our team to beat these guys we will continue to come up short.

Finn is a pipe dream.
That would clean out the QB room.

Day doesn’t value the QB run. Period.
It’s obvious in recruiting.

Stroud, Ewers, and wait until you see Riola.

I don’t get it other then it helps your chances of keeping the QB healthy.

We have become a throwing QB/WR centric program.

I think it impacts our toughness, running game and defense.

Pass first teams tend to not have elite defense.

He was ok with the run game seemingly until Fields got hurt his first year. His takeaway from the Clemson game that year was fields is healthy we win that game and it was reinforced by the next Clemson game where Fields being hurt plus Sermon's injury cost us any chance of shootout.

What I don't get is why Stroud after running the last few weeks had none of it this week.

But day definitely seems to discourage QB run for fear of injuries

The problem is throw first QB’s in Big 10 is horrible option come bad weather in October. Is what it is….

We do need a mobile QB…..I think that’s a fact at this point.

The crazy thing, is we really didn't even pass today. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. We have these talented receivers, and it was just not utilized in any way that played to our strengths.

I think Day is throwing horseshit at everybody when he say's he has special plays drawn up for this game.

It's apparent.
