HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Alright, signed out briefly but had a little retrospect. Up in C Deck right in front of me a guy had a heart attack that was with his daughter and I don't know if he made it (I really hope he did, but it wasn't looking good). I hate the result of the game, but I got to go to The Game with my dad and came back healthy. I got to meet some good BP folks. Life will go on as much as this hurts.
Ugh that's terrible and I hate to hear that someone had a health scare at the game.

Really hope they're okay. Sure puts things into perspective.

This. OSU should've been up 35-17 at halftime the way the played in the first half minimum.
The game started out beautifully. Scored on the first two drives, and were dominating. They had multiple chances to step on their throat and separate from them. When they didn't, they sensed the adversity (both sides of the ball) and they fell apart. That's an issue from the top down.

If I spot you the first ten minutes of this game with Urban Meyer on the sideline, do you think there's any way this game doesn't get to 17-3 or 24-3? I don't.

We were DOMINATING them, then it seemed like once we got out of the scripted plays, things started going a little sideways and it all came crashing down.

Getting run like that after the half tells me the coaches were panicked, couldn't settle a clearly pressing team down, and failed utterly.

It was honestly terrible man. I barely could even think about the game after that happened. And just stood there and couldn't do anything. Staff at the stadium responded really fast though, so I'm hoping the guy is alright.

Which one of Day's assistant coaching hires has actually worked out? I'm pondering in my head and concern is growing.

Hartline and Larry Johnson were on Urban's staff (Urban hired them). Kevin Wilson (also on Urban's staff) is indifferent and Corey Dennis is not really the QB Coach (Day is).

I'm thinking Jim Knowles but the jury is out. I don't have a grade for Justin Frye yet.

Again, I'm growing concerned that maybe Day has issues hiring.

Boarding plane.

Last post.

How about we shit can our dedicated special teams coach in favor of a dedicated position coach.

Nothing wrong with our special teams. Seem very average to me. We have a good kicker and punter. Not sure the ST coach had anything to do with that.

Give that responsibility to one of the 20 analysts.
Has Parker Fleming ever been the point on a recruit we’ve signed?

Did you miss the two punts we should’ve downed around the 1 yard line if our gunners did a better job?

Brutal plays.

Everyone needs a little perspective from time to time.

For years, my mood was influenced heavily by the results of these games. An OSU loss meant I was a miserable bastard for a few days. After we lost the game in 2003, my GF at the time basically broke up with me because I was just a dick for too long.

Growing older and building a family has mellowed me significantly. And honestly, the seismic changes going on within CFB as a whole are sapping me of some of my passion. Yeah, I'm bummed/pissed we lost, but I'll go to bed in a little while, wake up tomorrow, and go on with life without any side effects from today.

Life's too short/precious to get too wrapped up by this shit.

That said, GODDAMNIT, RYAN DAY.

Yeah, I'm annoyed and disappointed today. But it's a game, I didn't play in it, and life will be staring me in the face tomorrow.

Fixing the Buckeyes woes is not my job. I'll just continue to support my team, including a bowl game I didn't want. If the Bucks are playing, I'm there hoping for a win.

That said...

Hafley was amazing. I think Knowles in general was a great hire despite the shit today. If the offense does it’s job McCarthy is probably trying to put his team on his back and failing miserably.

Hafley was a home run hire. I'm on the fence about Knowles. Maybe not dialing up so many blitzes when your secondary is a clown show, but if they're executing, I think he's a very good to great DC. Is it the Jimmy's & Joe's? Because the secondary has been a shit show for a few years now. As I've said multiple times, players are on-field extensions of their HC. Ryan Day looked constipated from about the 10 Min point of the 1st quarter on and his team looked equally uncomfortable out there. I think that hindered Knowles today.

That said, Walton/Eliano are looking like questionable hires to me. This secondary has shown indications of very serious flaws all year, today it just exploded. Has it improved on the past couple of years? Maaaaaaaaaybe? But definitely not enough. Those guys should have some pretty warm seats.

Eliano seems decent until today safety play had been vastly improved the corners were letting them down. Today the whole DB squad looked bad. Burke was the only one close to being up and down.

Also someone run mid-season tackling dummy practice. Cause the last half of the season the tackling got really bad at times

Give me Knowles over Hafley.

Hafley had NFL players everywhere and was able to play cover 3 and 1 all year.

Jim Knowles doesn't have a first rounder anywhere in the secondary. Yet still took us to a top 10 defense.

I think you mean our "shouldering" :)

Yeah, the jersey ripped on Cam Brown's attempt in the first half too.

I still remember the tackling in the final three games of 2014 (especially from Darron Lee and Eli Apple). I'd yearn for those days.
