HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Oh, 100%. I'm not saying he's going to be given 7, 8, 10, 12 years if he keeps losing The Game, but if he's winning 11 games, going to NY6 bowls and the money is flowing, I don't think Smith is gonna fire him anytime soon. Lets say we win the I Don't Give A Shit Bowl this year and go into The Game 10-1 next year...then lose (I'd put it at about 98% we do right now)...Do you think Smith fires Day with a 56-7 record? I don't. Now if next year is wildly disappointing, say 7-5 with a loss to ttun...then maybe we're talking.

I still think Day is good enough coach to keep winning at a prolific pace, just not the ones we really want. That complicates things.

Honestly, me, NFBuck, I'd give him next year to get it right and I'd make sure he's aware of it in no uncertain terms. Lose to them 3 times in a row, you're out. But I don't have all the other considerations Gene Smith does; I'm just a frustrated fan.
I think TTUN has significant losses on their side next season as well, so I would not say 98% at all.

Maybe not having Stroud will actually release Day of the mind fuckery he seems to have in how to be utilize him.

Injuries are not a valid excuse when your biggest wounds in the game are self-inflicted. Penalties, dropped passes, blown coverages, and missed tackles had nothing to do with JSN and Henderson not playing. This team tripped over their own dick repeatedly today.

Plus, ttun's offense was Blake Corum all year. He was hurt and a nonfactor today yet they still kicked our ass. Injury excuse doesn't pass the sniff test, sorry.
Boo hoo so they didn't have corum. Our best back was a fucking linebacker. You ever think that without the injures, dudes would have been in there that would have made those plays, or not gotten penalties. BTW it's gonna be hard to ever see 88 in the same light gain. Hamby status...he needs to change his number imo

I know this is The Ohio State University, and it's next man up....but damn the injures really added up this year. Straight Stud after Stud went down. Some still tried to give it a go but we're nowhere near the same as when healthy.

Corum leads their offense, and their best pass rusher was also out. Stroud had all day on many plays but couldn't find anywhere to throw it. Corum's backup gained over 200 yards playing with a broken hand.

Our best back was a fucking linebacker by choice. Day took Hayden out of the game plan, choosing to use a guy who hadn't played all year instead of the kid who rushed for 150 yards in half a game last week.

Outcoached all day, offensively and defensively. To be outscored 28-3 in the second half - in a game you led at halftime at home - is an embarrassment. That's on Day.

You guys are insane!

I think Day ultimately wants to be a NFL HC and I actually think he fits for the NFL better than college. Fickell has grown as a HC and took a lesser program in Cincinnati to the playoffs. I think the recruiting might take a hit at QB and WR without Day but if Hartline stays he should be still be a good recruiter at WR. Fickell should be able to fix the defense and recruit better on that side of the ball.

The Hayden discion probably cost us a chance for a NC. Horrible decision that's shouldn't be over looked.

RB injuries didn't cause us to give up 45 fucking points, including 28 in the second half. Our defense is good against shit teams, but against good teams it's so-so and against great teams it flat out sucks. And our secondary is absolutely horrendous...

I say 98% because I lived through John Cooper. This was 100% a John Cooper game.

Boo hoo, they didn't have Corum, but then right to the injury excuse for us? Interesting. Our best RB was a LB today BY CHOICE. Ryan Day had a guy who ran for 146 yards and 3 TD last week. He chose to give him 2 carries today.

I still fail to see what injuries have to do with receivers dropping passes that hit them in the hands, OL committing penalties that stall out drives, veteran players taking idiotic personal fouls, our secondary repeatedly blowing coverages, and guys missing tackles.

Bringing up JSN and Henderson is excuse-mongering. We lose this game today even if they do play because the entire team was tight, nervous, and wholly unprepared for any hint of adversity. This was a John Cooper game and I know, because I saw a lot of them.

I can agree. Still looked like Ransom was favoring that hand bigtime and should have been benched. I have said it before and I guess evertime I post from now on I should do it. FIRE THE SECONDARY COACH RIGHT FUCKING NOW!

After last year I had hope it could be avenged this year. Changes were made on defense, and we'll have them in the Shoe. It'll be better. But by the time the game ended it looked a lot like last year, only a little worse.

Day spent 365 days thinking about today, and nothing was better. I know he's not getting fired tomorrow, but I'm also not going to engage in the chest-pounding leading up to the game. Now, I need to see it to believe it.

It's the dropped passes. It's the stupid penalties. It's the blown coverages. It's the missed tackles. All of the above were hallmarks of John Cooper teams in The Game. Ryan Day does not have the confidence and the "FUCK THEM" attitude Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer (read my signature) had. Ryan Day is tense, that is sensed by his team, and it shows on the field through all of these mistakes. All of these issues start with the guy at the top.

That's ingrained. I don't know how you "fix" that.
This. OSU should've been up 35-17 at halftime the way the played in the first half minimum.

Yeah same. I don't want to hear about how mad they are next year. How they're coming for it all etc.

Just get better and attack every game like it's your last.

Alright, signed out briefly but had a little retrospect. Up in C Deck right in front of me a guy had a heart attack that was with his daughter and I don't know if he made it (I really hope he did, but it wasn't looking good). I hate the result of the game, but I got to go to The Game with my dad and came back healthy. I got to meet some good BP folks. Life will go on as much as this hurts.
