HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

I think the biggest issue this year especially on defense was that we just didn't have the studs that we have gotten used to. We didn't have a Bosa or a Chase Young on the DL. There were no Denzel Wards, or Jordan Fullers in the defensive backfield. Last year DT and linebacker were the strongest part of the defense and all 3 LB's and 1 of the DT's went to the NFL. One of our best LB's this season started the year as a RB. If they could have convinced one or two of the LB's, Togiai and Wade to come back for another season the results might have been different this year. This is especially true with many players at lesser programs sticking around for a 5th or 6th year while we are breaking in a bunch of first year players. In the era of NIL money everything is going to change and tOSU better find the backers to stay relevant. If Dion Sanders can convince the best DB in the country to go to a mid-major for a wad of cash and mentorship from Primetime all bets are off. If you want a great OL get Nationwide to throw in 20M a year to sponsor the unit.

I think some of this is BS. Because we had someone who had the talent and potential of the Bosa's Young, in Harrison. And we had a sidekick talented enough(on paper) to be on the other side in Tyreke Smith. Neither stepped up. We also had Vincent who was a former 5tsar who should've lessened the blow of losing Togiai. Wade coming back to play inside or S wasn't going to be an option. And we still had guys like Martinez to play inside and Proctor and Ransom to play S. None of these players produced how we thought they would(Proctor due to injury). Before the season, none of the players we lost weren't seen as major with all of supposed talent we still had on the roster.

Not only that but if our defense defense only works when we have 1st round studs at 2 if 3 levels or all 3 levels our defense is broke.

The young studs who proved themselves and/or are on deck for next season and the new top-flight guys coming in who, with Knowles, are going to fix the problem are, that's right, you guessed it, in and coming to Columbus to play for DAY. Those guys, certainly a large percentage of them, wouldn't be here to play for Urban and definitely wouldn't be playing for Tressel. These guys want to play with a dynamic offense and a top level QB so that they have a chance to win the playoff. We simply did not have that previously. They're not coming to beat scum and Wisconsin in Indy every year. That's a means to get where they/we want to and should be. We all need to simmer down and let him sort this out.

Eh idk about talent. You couldn’t convince anyone in 2018 that defense actually had three top 10 picks and four first rounders overall. Yeah Bosa got injured early but they still looked like ass the few games Bosa played in.

I guess if y'all want to stroke out over something that's clearly being handled and that you can't affect, that's up to you.

Opinions about shit we have no control over = sports message board, no?

If there is a group of posters who have direct control over some aspect of Ohio State football, I guess I'm not invited to that high end happy hour.

Damn people continuing to lose their minds in here. Y’all would’ve wanted Saban canned his first four years for going 2-2 against Barn, NC be damned. OSU’s dominance over SCUM is an anomaly and is actually insane when you think about it. Who has gone 17-3 over a 20 year period against their chief rival like OSU has?

From 1990-2010 FU had an identical to record against Georgia with the combination of Spurrier-Urban Meyer (with an interlude of Ron Zook) over 20 years.

Remarkably, even Zook had a 2-1 record in Jacksonville.

And to be precise (since the year 2000 as a "year 0" counts as a year), it was actually an 18-3 record over a 21 year period (the 17-3 would've been for 1990-2009 or 1991-2010).
