If you were to hire Tressel or Urban now, you could forget about winning any more NCs anytime soon. We might beat scum more often than not, but we’d have our ass handed to us in the playoff every year and after awhile that would affect recruiting. Day is the guy for now. If we let him go, you’re looking at being Penn State for awhile.

I disagree. People weren't happy with ole 9-3 Earle. After the tantalizing first year there were going to be three losses each year, so winning the Big Ten was a crapshoot and forget about contending for a national championship.

Good grief. There was a time that Jim Tressel was 2-1 in The Game. I don't recall anyone wondering how long until Gieger replaced him after he lost the 03 Game

I'll be worried if

1. Knowles turns out to be a bad hire and the defense doesn't improve.
2. OSU continues to struggle to run the ball and can't sign top OL recruits.
3. A veteran '22 team with many returning starters and contributors fails to improve and hit the ground running
4. TTUN doesn't get an ass whopping

What's done is done. Hopefully OSU beats Utah, but it's obvious many things didn't go right this season and the team was flawed from the start. Given this information, it's not shocking that OSU lost against the best TTUN team in a few decades. I think that needs to be said because some are acting like Day just got upset by a 6-6 team that stumbled through the whole year.

None of the questions people have about Day will be answered until next season. But, IMO, what we saw this past season is an anomaly. You replace the DC 2 games in, the core of your team had to be freshman and sophomores, and said sophomores didn't get a chance to experience The Game because the gutless cowards ducked out last year. I'm excited about next year. A ton of talent is coming back, there's a new DC, and I think improvements will be made in the run game.

You make one excellent point, and that's the fact that even though most of us hate to admit it ( myself included), TTUN had a damn good team this year. Looking at what they lose and how their recruiting has been, I really don't that continuing on next year. They won their first Game in a decade, and only the third THIS FUCKING MILLENIUM!!!
Yeah, there are things that definitely need to be fixed for the Bucks to stay on the course they have been on, but the sky didn't fall, and the end of the world isn't upon us. ( at least because of football). Some of the negativity and dooming here lately is making the board almost unenjoyable these days. Half the comments I read make me think I'm on a Facebook post.
I'm in my mid 60s. I lived through Coop. I lived through Earl and Woody's later years. I used to let this eat at me too. About 10 years ago I came within minutes of dying because of a freak cardiac event. It made me realize what is really important in life, and it sure as Hell isn't getting pissed off for a year over a loss. Don't we always say here that we have only one Rival? Well a rivalry means both sides win occasionally. The Bucks lost The Game this year. It sucks. It sucks bad, but I was over it that night. Yep, we've got to listen to them chirp for the next year, but ya know what? We deserve it. Who's been trash talking who for the last 10 years? It's the Holidays. I'm going enjoy spending it with family. I'll watch as many bowl games as I can because I just love College Football. And I'll wait with anticipation for the kickoff against the Domers next year. If things stay as negative here as they have been, I'll just peace out and step away for a while.

Damn ya'll. Ryan Day's career record as head coach is 33-4, 23-1 in conference. The only teams that have been able to beat Coach Day have been Top 5 teams. Yes, Oregon was Top 5 when they beat us and is the only loss at home. This year we happened to lose on the road, against a TTUN team that is going to the playoff as the #2 ranked team. It fucking sucks to lose to them but they are a really good team this year for a change, so are the Buckeyes. Give the guy some slack because that record is second to Nick freaking Satan over that time. All recruiting classes have been, what, Top 5 also? Things aren't perfect but expecting that is probably too much maybe? Now, I'm the first guy to raise 10 kinds of hell on gamedays when we're not playing well and there's plenty of game thread folks here who can attest. Mea Culpa. He's making adjustments lets take a breath and see if they are good one's or not before we go nuclear.

All that said, the Buckeyes need to treat this Rose Bowl as a business trip or, fair or not, Ryan Day's 2022 is going to be a pain in his ass with people second guessing everything he does.

For the Day defenders what is the breaking point for you? I think he has some problems to overcome. I’ll be ready to move on if he loses to scUM and it’s his second loss and we are off to a bowl where we wonder if he can motivate his team again.

soo if you look Tress won a Natty in his 3rd year… probably should have won another one in ‘05 but that was the last team he had that would contend. Got blown out (complete beatdown I’d say) in ‘06, ‘07 was a fluke … then wheels kept coming off… got blown out by USC at USC there are a few others (including a bowl game loss to Tejas) but beat scum like a drum…

Urban won a title in his … 3rd year again right? ‘14… ‘15 had the bad loss to Sparty with the team that shoulda went back to back… a myriad of other bad losses to bad teams including an inept 31-0 complete beatdown by Clemp’son. And then there was the whole crazy ass WR coach who may or may not have been in a mutually abusive relationship with his wife/ex wife.. but hey 7-0 vs scUM

so… Those guys .. fast starts … crash and burn finishes… Day should have played LSU in ‘19 for the title and I think we had a good chance to beat them… much like the 05/06 teams the ‘19/‘20 teams the wrong team went to the title.

Day … kinda fast start already with 2 playoffs and a natty appearance - hey it wasn’t great but we weren’t great either….
We will find out in about a 3 months if Day wants to go to the NFL and if he doesn’t we’ll know in about 10 months if he’s got the stomach to be great.

I can show you posts where I've said Coach Day has to change the mindset within the building. Hell I was saying it during the damn scUM game.

These continued screeds are different and I don't know if I can fully describe how at the moment. It's very self-serving. This fanbase is so full of itself - not you and not 98% of the people here. Thankfully.
