ginn was getting doubled all day and still got free alot
. holmes and gonzo with ther speed were open to easy and to many times

The onlything I could think about was that Tressel wanted him to prove himself and was holding back alot for the texas game.

Thats Tressel ball, I love it but, the ????????'s begin thats drives me nuts

Did I ever say Zwick needed to go deep against Miami? No.

Anyways, what I said was if Texas shuts down the screen play, he hasn't shown me he can consistently get a first down on 3rd and long. Instead of saying that he can without proving it, well, that's just as bad as saying he can't because he hasn't showed it. Honestly, I am not talking about bombs, I am talking about a mid-range passing attack. Against Miami, it was more of a short range passing attack. Like I said, if Zwick can throw the short ball and that's enough, great.

I'm somewhat critical of Zwick because I haven't seen enough great play yet.

I am going to say I did not think Zwick had a sharp performance. He does not go through progressions, and as someone said earlier he locks onto his target. There were two occasions that had the RB as the number one passing option, and when Miami picked that up it looked as if he was stuck and had no where to go (like option 2, hence the term progression). Additionally, he made one major mistake that should have been interception 2 on the day. He hit a Miami LB right in the hands on a crossing route intended for TG2. If the guy had any fingers at all he would've caught it. At any rate, I would say the coaches know Zwick's stats looked good mainly because of a weaker opponent. Look for the incumbent to run out under center 6 days from now.

Start the Best QB

If JT is through with TS's punishment, then the best QB should start. Most football players know who is the best QB and he should start. If you don't the team will feel handicapped. Looking at the offensive production last year with Smith and the team's reaction to him, they believed in him over JZ. JZ was supposed to be Peyton Manning like, and he's not.

He did not check off his wide outs because he didn't have to. I am not sure what would've happened if he had to. Texas is a much better defense than Miami, but if they do not shut down the short routes, they are done.

Zwick played good, and you can't ask for much more. All I am saying is that it was pretty easy to succeed with our wide outs and that game plan. Infact, this offense was more spread than it was against Michigan last year. Very good job by Tressel on play calling.

Start Zwick and work Smith in.

I thought Zwick did a very good job of checking off options and finding the open man. Sure, you can find a couple of examples where someone was open and wasn't hit, but that's true in any game with any quarterback. But Zwick spread the ball around effectively and efficiently, and made hot reads very well when necessary.

Smith may be the best quarterback on the team. If his stratospheric performance against Michigan was an accurate indicator, he's not just the bast quarterback on the team, he's the best quarterback in the country. But if Smith is at the top of the totem pole, it's not because of Zwick's deficiencies - Zwick is a quality quarterback capable of leading this team to a league championship, in my view - it's because of Smith's excellence.

everyone just think back to the play against michigan, he dropped back and both of scums defensive ends had him dead to rights, he then spun free and broke a tackle and took off with it for a huge gain, after he got tackled out of bounds he was the first one up and looked fine, while the player that tackled him was still on the ground in pain. that is what zwick cant bring to this offense, and thats why smith should be the number one quarterback, but he might be rusty which is why zwick should play at first.

IIRC, he found a lot of people open because he took the snap looked up and someone was open. I agree he found the open man, most of the time it was his first option. Maybe it wasn't, but he sure seemed to get the ball off fast. He either goes through his progressions faster than just about anyone, or the wide receivers were open a lot.

Zwick did a workman like job and I feel we can win with him, but TS did not lose his job because of football performance but something off the field. If JT feels TS has served his punishment and looks sharp in practice the player that gives OSU the best chance to win should start. Whoever that is. You start the best player at each position QB should be no different.

i swear that you assholes could fuck up a wet dream... we just had a great game, against a good opponent, and all you clowns do is put our team down... i understand that you think that being a fan gives you the right to be critical, but i don't see ANY of you schmucks out there on Saturday... you just sit there in your lazy boy and talk shit...

actually, they are just putting down zwick. i wouldn't find it one bit surprising to find that several of the persons boo'ing zwick during the spring game are posting in this thread.

the kid goes out and plays 2 games and in those 2 games is named the game mvp twice and still all people do is talk about how much he sucks.

No I disagree. Have been reading through this whole thread, and I dont see people "putting down Zwick". I see people voicing their opinions. Some of you are just so sick, that nobody on the team can do anything wrong. When they take a shit, it's the most beautiful thing in the world, etc. Take it as you will, but this is how I see it. I am not knocking Zwick at all. Mr Incredible may have been a tad harsh. He played a fine game. But I will sum up my point in one sentence:

Troy Smith is a better QB than Justin Zwick. That is my opinion, and it doesnt mean that Zwick is a bad QB. Go back and watch the game again. Watch the majority of JZ's passes. They are lame ducks. They flutter like you can believe. I think you put him up against a good D like Texas, and it will be a different story. Thank God we have receivers like we have. That can make anybody like great.

Ok flame away, but some of you guys are entirely too touchy.
