This... its one thing to follow the books but the majority of this show's watchers haven't read the books... My wife was saying "I don't accept this"... she's pissed, I mean its fine if you want to lose the audience or if season 6 is the last one...

Agreed. Not sure about all the Stannis love--a religious fanatic with a penchant for burning people at the stake. They are running out of like able characters to kill off (and maybe that's the point--those who win in real life aren't generally "like able).

I'm not a Melisandre fan but I respect the long game that I suspect she's playing. I think she knew as far back as during Season Four, and certainly earlier this season, that Stannis wasn't the One and all of her actions thereafter were to help get rid of him so she could focus on the next One (who, of course, appears to be Jon Snow, although it remains to be seen what happens there). I think you could run an internal dialogue of Stannis looking backward Angelheart-style and he'd see that she'd played him to his demise.

Fuck Stannis Baratheon. Of all the dreadful things I've seen in this show, that was by far the worst.....
And kudos to the writers.....I didn't think it would be possible to feel sympathy for Cersei Fucking Lannister, but they managed it. Short-lived, but still.....
Even if there isn't much action, I am really enjoying the Danyaeras storyline......the socio-economic aspect adds some depth that I feel like some of the other plot lines are missing.

If Stannis kills Shireen in the books, while still repugnant, he will believe it's the only way to save the kingdom. Mel's power is proven. She burnt 3 leeches and 3 kings died. She birthed 2 shadow assassins.
They could have done the same in the show. They didn't. So now Stannis is like that dude IRL that paid a psychic like 80k to get a chick he dug. It looks like a desperate action by an idiot. Neither of which is part of Stannis' character.

Imo, in thebooks, it's that she saw them dying in the flames and used it to her advantage. But I get why Stannis would consider burning his nephew and his daughter alive. He THINKS she has real powers. In the show, he burns his only daughter and the heir to his would be kingdom because...hey, why not? Shit else going on I guess.
I understand that the show has to cut shit. I do. I wish they'd have cut the "Pod is a thick dicked dynamo that gets pleasure refunds from whores" storyline in favor of defining major character motivation a bit better. I really think the writers believe they can tell the story better than GRRM, which obviously, I think is fucking ridiculous.
