I'm not a fan of Damphair. At all. I actually fucking hate him. But Euron and Vic are awesome.
Godless? Why, Aeron, I am the godliest man ever to raise sail! You serve one God Damphair, but I have served ten thousand. From Ib to Asshai, when men see my sails, they pray.

That's baddass.

Also, Ian McShane and Max Von Sydow confirmed for season 6

Yeah, I could give two shits about the damphair drowning stiffs and the whole kingsmoot thing really. But euron and victarion are badass.

I wonder who mcshane is playing. Randyl tarly? He's probably too old to be a greyjoy. Max von sydow has to be playing someone at the citadel. I mean, he looked old when he was in the exorcist 40 years ago.

They're saying McShane will get little screen time but his character is of key importance.

Tarly? Howland Reed? He's definitely too old for a book greyjoy but I'd fucking dance a fucking jig if he's playing Crow's Eye. I mean he's the younger brother to Balon, but show Balon ain't no spring chicken

It will be interesting to see what they do after season 8. It seems like there is enough story that they could make self-contained single seasons that aren't directly from the books. A couple that I came up with as someone that didn't read the books are Valyria and/or The Doom, and Rhaegar (rebellion?). I'm guessing that they would be best to keep them in an earlier time where they could recast all of the characters with younger actors so Robert's Rebellion is about as close as you could get to GoT.

I'm surprisingly into it. Not sure whether having seen the show is a + or -. It just is, I guess. When I see Winterfell when reading, obviously, I'm seeing the television version, but I don't know that it really matters. I am enjoying the background facts/history that you get with the book(s).

Seeing the show gives you some context at least early in the books, and you can tell how dead on HBO was with some of their casting. But, when the show deviates from the books, in some cases wildly, you'll be aggravated.
