GRRM says he had an end of year deadline for WoW. Had he finished the book by this week, the publisher had a plan in place for WoW to hit shelves before season 6. He has not finished the book, but the "good" news is that when he finishes, it should be available within 3 months. So there's that.

HBO ran a marathon last week and I taped all 50 to watch from the beginning. So far I've only watched the first episode. I'd forgotten how much they packed into it. At the same time I'm halfway through Book 3 and am still enjoying the parallel stories.
