Fishing (Official Thread)

Buckyle is that you?

Lake Erie gives up record fish to Newark man who arrowed it.
Lake Erie, already known for its highly rated walleye and smallmouth bass fishing, may be notching another list-topper in its Sandusky Bay. That would be carp.

A state bowfishing record for carp - 38 inches long, 47.65 pounds - recently was certified by the Outdoor Writers of Ohio, in conjunction with the Ohio Division of Wildlife.

MondayAMGenius, me and some dudes I know out here in Cali fished the channel this past fall... caught literally hundreds of mackerel, and a bunch of orange roughy, rock fish and other orange channel fishes... great time, probably 40-50+ lbs of keeper filets... but I really want to get out for some tuna either up here or down in Cabo. Would LOVE to do some Pacific warm water trolling - have only deep sea'd the Atlantic and Caribbean so far... if someone can get MondayAMGenius to post in this thread, he's a great source for Ohio, Great Lakes and Caribbean fishing info and stories...........

The walleye runs are on in the maumee and over in Fremont. I haven't gotten out yet but hope to when the weather improves. Did you go on Erie?

My buddies will probably do the walleye run, I'm not much into that. I've just been fishing some local, smaller lakes/reservoirs. Probably some Erie fishing later on in the year.

Well' the annual walleye run is in full swing and I am able this year to fish, so I thought. I went down to the local bait store and bought a pair of cheap waders ($40.00 isn't so cheap btw , Dang capitalistic chinese).
Those along with a new license and off I went to the best high water spot I know of. I only had an hour of daylight and so I didn't catch any but neither did anyone else. I guess it wasn't meal time for them or they were just too busy making babies.
The good news is that I am apparently able to fish this year by wading the Maumee after two years of not.
Now if I could only get rid of my walking pneumonia...........
But I plan to get out again today if it warms up some more and the river don't rise.

In about a week I'm moving up to Humboldt County where there is some of the best fishing in the world. I'll be living a mile from the beach (fairly decent ocean fishing), as well as the Mad River, and not too far from the Klamath River and Trinity River.

What a beautiful setting. Pacific Ocean on one side and the Redwoods on the other. Can't wait to get my line in the water...
