Fishing (Official Thread)

Loved seeing that Perch in your mess. I haven’t had the pleasure of fishing for Perch in Lake Erie in many a year. There’s some good Perch fishing on Lake Michigan near us and we just got a boat late last year so I’m going to have to give it a shot.

Well,if you can find perch on lake Michigan... Catch them. Lake Erie is full of 10s of millions of apex predator walleye. The perch are not easy to find

Well, i mean.... Last time we were just dragging them on regular medium rods because we were in about 20-25 feet of water and we were pinging fish in about 10 feet off the bottom... So, no high tech geniusing needed. If is not our preferred method, but there just wasn't enough wind to get our cast and drift routine going without it being just a shit load of work.

We dont set up for deep trolling much, we don't use planers, downriggers or any of that shit. Most we do is set up 4 trolling rods strait from trident rod holders.... Or have two on the outside and hold two in the middle... Then its a question of trolling weights (there are estimated charts for this stuff) and once in awhile dipsey divers. But for us to troll slowly enough its almost an into the breeze kind of run since we don't have a trolling motor so we don't get precise with speed. (Its literally take 7.4 mercruiser out of neutral and try to go slow)

If its breezy, we just use the wind and weapon rigs and cover water that way. But we had 5 fish in a couple hours, so we decided to see what else might work.

As an addendum to this, we don't actually know what the hell we are doing... Just because we aren't out there every day. My step dad has been doing this since the 60's, his buddy about the same and has worked on charter boats... And he has another buddy who is out every day and runs a precision trolling operation. We aren't interested in that shit.

I have about 10 years and maybe 60-70 days on the big lake. We used to catch a lot of perch and.not too many walleye... Now we do the opposite. Sometimes we have good days, sometimes not so much. Gonna be a tough fall again in tue western basin... Spring is ok.

Michael Jordan draws big crowd after catching 442-pound marlin at North Carolina fishing tournament

Michael Jordan thrives on competition. This is no secret.

The Charlotte Hornets owner and NBA icon took his competitive urges to the coast of North Carolina on Tuesday and hauled in a massive catch at the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.

According to multiple reports, Jordan and the crew of his 80-foot “Catch 23” fishing boat reeled in a 442.3-pound marlin. When he returned to dock with his catch, a large crowd was there to greet him.

Not surprisingly, Jordan doesn’t sound satisfied with the catch. The fish was the fifth-largest of the tournament since it began on Monday and wasn’t eligible for top-three prize money in the $3.3 million tournament that also pays prizes for wahoo, tuna and dolphin fish.
