Fishing (Official Thread)

Looking good, Nutriaitch!

AKAK, I miss fishing on Lake Erie - probably been 30 years since I've been out on the water there. I still have an Erie Dearie in my tackle box, for nostalgia's sake I guess.

Mostly chasing trout with dry flies and occasional nymphs on rivers here in CO, with small lake/pond fishing with spinner lures and jigs with the family. Far too seldom though, but things should be looking up as springs hits full stride in these parts.
Now we're talking! Bought my daughter a TFO 3 weight flyrod (and cheap reel) when she was 12. She caught a few steelhead smolts but never really took to it. Damn if I didn't have room in the quiver for a 3 wt though (and it was tons of fun fishing for small stream native cutthroats). All comes around. Now that she's in her mid-20s every time she borrows camping or backpacking gear she pretty much is claiming her inheritance. No doubts the fishing gear is next. Love it.

details bro.

what are they?
how do they fight?
how easy/hard to clean?
beat way to cook/eat them?

Those are walleye. (Cept the little yellow striped guy far right is a yellow perch)

They aren't known for their fighting prowess. Occasionally the girls will throw down with you in the end, usually as you get them in the light at the surface or they see you try to net them, but they aint no small mouth.

Anyway sizewise, this is one of the girls on the right 3-5 in, not sure which one

Super tasty. Cleaning is a take the fillet off each side operation with some pin bones in the midline.

Deep fry, bake with panko, I'm going to do some in butter on cast iron and cajun later... Will post pics

Fun side note...

Was sorta of a slow day at first... Wont bore you with our old school fishing details... But wasn't going great so we switched to trolling with this as my weapon...

so anyone “straight out of Ashland” is usually a bad mother fucker that just got out of the joint.
