Game Thread FIESTA BOWL: tOSU 21, Texas 24 (01-05-09)

Local news here said that there are no rules in place for which players are interviewed. There are only requests. Clay Hall, who I normally hate, said that Buckeye fans (i.e. Columbus media) will get over not having an extra Terrelle Pryor sound bite if he wins the game. I tend to agree with that line of thinking.

I don't get why it is such a big deal to Buckeye fans at all. I frankly could care less what Pryor has to say. I care about what he proves on the field. I'd much rather here our veteran players speak anyway, as they should be the leaders of the team. But as a Buckeye fan, I've heard Pryor speak many times...it's not like one less time matters to me. I hope after the game we hear him speak about how good Texas was, and speak about how the Buckeyes couldn't have won the game without his offensive line.

Agreed. He's been with Tress for almost a year. Not like we're going to hear much other than "Texas is a great team and we're going to have to score points."

Or something like that. Non-story that the media is making into a big deal.

Asked if Ohio State fans would like to hear from their starting quarterback before the game, Tressel replied, "Well, I think we owe a lot to our fans. Unfortunately, you can't do everything you'd like to do.
"I would like all of our kids and coaches to be able to sign every autograph that every fan would like and, you know, all those kinds of things. But you can only do so many things. You have to make decisions. Some of them are well thought of, some of them aren't."

Reading a little more into this statement, it sounds like Pryor was getting inundated with autograph requests and needed a break. Keeping him away from the media may have been TP request. Coach is protecting his players and wants them focused.

I took that as JT being low-key smart ass about it. Comparing the media to autograph hounds.

Seriously the wait for this game is killing me. I don't know why but I don't think I have ever anticipated a game as much as I am this one...not even the USC game. I'm ready to see if we're going to come out to play or come out flat.

I agree it is the performance in the game that counts..but if JT was supremely confident in TP's preparation he would've sent him..this could be JT sending a message to TP that this is bussiness not all hoopla..
