F Mickey Mitchell (transfer to Arizona State)

As Mickey was perhaps the single recruit I've been most excited about since the Oden-Conley class, I'm a very happy fella over this news.

The combination of passing, court vision and athleticism he will bring is exceptional. I'm really not that concerned about his shot; don't really look to Mickey as a big-time scorer so much as a facilitator, which is the role he plays in HS and AAU.

mickey has much ground to make up, but his ceiling is still tremendously high.

awesome passing class the '15 class is. harris, grandstaff, mitchell, and even giddens are all adept if not outstanding passers.

Yeah, that is the subtle point that a lot of people might overlook about this class. It's worth pointing out that these guys are really good at passing. When you have a team that has a philosophy to share the ball and keep it moving, having guys with those kind of passing skills can make them even more dynamic and balanced. Usually you don't see very many guys that are particularly good at passing on the same team in college, but OSU seems to have cornered the market a bit this year.

I believe Esa's visits were canceled by OSU, I may be wrong, but that's what I thought I read. Could that have been TM's way to show Mickey that they are committed to him? Perhaps he grew a bad taste in his mouth with all the talk of adding Bragg or Ahmad, and felt betrayed, so decommited? Then Thad got him to come on his visit, and cleared the air and said they are 100% behind him as their future 4. Told him go home, get your parents blessing, if they are cool with things, we'll end this Esa thing one way or another... You're our guy. Quite the made up story on my part, but an interesting timeline and turn of events.

Nonetheless, welcome back!

I am not sure exactly how the MM situation played out, but I think he's being more groomed as a 3 than a 4. I know he had bulked up likely due to his leg injury, but he is supposedly down about 20 lbs from a year ago and I know he has talked about playing the wing. That is not to say that I don't think he will see time at the 4, but I think with his ball skills, if he can guard the 3, thats where he will be playing most of the time.

Wow, just wandered over here and I see this?! Awesome news, this one really stung when he decommitted. A class of Mitchell, Grandstaff, Giddens, and Harris is just fine by me. The re-commit is as rare as an Ohio summer without a thunderstorm. I can't really express how excited this makes me!
