Pam Ward, a trailblazing announcer who began calling national TV football in 2000, will no longer call ESPN college football.
In a move first tweeted by si.com's Richard Deitsch, ESPN spokesman Mike Humes says Ward will remain as an announcer on ESPN events including the WNBA, softball and college basketball. Ward last year called mid-afternoon Saturday games on ESPNU.
ESPN/ABC has at least one remaining female announcer on college football: Beth Mowins, who last season called midday Saturday games on ESPN2.

I know she wasn't very popular, but I didn't mind her on the air - at least, I felt she was no worse than Matt Millen. She was a far sight better than Craig James, but then that's not saying much. I'd rather listen to her than Lou Holtz, too.

Well done, BP. Well done.
