I've wondered occasionally why Coombs has been exempted from criticsim this year.

Some guys win you over with their passion and personality. I think that's the case here. I LOVE the guy, but there's just no defending it. The secondary is crap. It just is. There's no denying it.

Coombs did tell the defense what play Michigan was going to run on the 2 pt try according to CB Powell.

But you don't know that. Maybe he's being confused by his instruction. Maybe his coaching and the play calling aren't taking advantage of the DB's abilities. Not saying that is happening, but it is possible.

Roby mailed it in this year a la Chris Gamble. Not sure why he didn't bolt last year but his stock HAS to have fallen in NFL circles with his play this year. Today was just another example of his regression.

What you're doing is not analysis. It's speculation.

Of course it is, as was the statement that Roby's lack of performance was not due to coaching. I was just presenting opposing speculation.

I do have some experience in this, however. I have seen good teams, that I played on, under-perform because the were not coached to their strengths. Different level (high school) but that experience plays a part in the formation of my opinion. I certainly could be wrong, and if UFM keeps the D staff around and they are dominant, or at least passable, then I'll be thrilled. But nothing I've seen thus far has led me to believe that this will happen.

Respectfully disagree. A guy mailing it in doesn't chase down Gallon on the long pass. Or the kick returner on the long return. He may gave struggled this year, but I don't believe it is for lack of effort.
