Tressel Talks Injuries
by ADAM JARDY

When the Buckeyes travel north to East Lansing this weekend, they will be doing so with a slightly different depth chart.
Patterson is likely out for the Michigan State game this weekend.
After suffering a knee injury in Ohio State's 35-7 victory over Bowling Green on Oct. 7, starting defensive tackle David Patterson is likely out for unbeaten OSU's conference matchup with Michigan State.
The injury, which Tressel described as "day-to-day" immediately following the game, likely will not sideline the fifth-year senior beyond this weekend's contest. To replace Patterson, Tressel said the Buckeyes will rotate Todd Denlinger, Joel Penton, Quinn Pitcock and Doug Worthington into his spot with Penton serving as the likely starter.
For Worthington, that would mean a shift from his usual spot at defensive end, where he has seen limited action this season.
"He's gotten so big and we're looking for places to try and give him an opportunity (to play)," Tressel said. "You don't know what he's going to grow into.
"Sometimes I like a big guy on the edge. I don't want those tackles to get used to ducking the speed rushes, I like them to get bowled over too."
Worthingon, a redshirt freshman from Athol Springs (N.Y.) St. Francis High School, is listed as 6-7, 274 pounds. In the spring media guide, he was listed at 6-7, 250 pounds.
The Buckeyes were also without the services of right tackle Kirk Barton for nearly the entirety of the Bowling Green game after the junior suffered an undisclosed left foot injury on the second play of the game.
He did not return, but he might be in the lineup this weekend and on the practice field as early as Wednesday. In his place, senior Tim Schafer and junior Jon Skinner rotated into the game.
Schafer played left guard, left tackle and right tackle during the game and saw some 60 snaps.
"I thought he did solid," Tressel said. "I don't know that he graded a winning performance, but it wasn?t too bad."
Also on the depth chart, Marcus Freeman or Curtis Terry are listed as the starting strongside linebacker. Terry apparently earned the starting spot prior to the Iowa game, but suffered an undisclosed injury--he was described by Tressel as "gimpy"--leading up to the Bowling Green game and played sparingly.

Or is this a case of something that didn't work against OSU's O-Line in practice... worked out just fine against BG in real game action?Folanator;630225; said:I was told by someone close to the team that this was tried once already this year a few months back. He was moved back out because it did not work.
Is this a case of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole?

I wonder if it's a matter of depth... we are stacked at DE, but need able bodies at DT for depth (in case something happened to Quinn, Joel or Todd). Is this a case of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole?
