DT Doug Worthington (Official Thread)

Worthington and Williams will be receiving medical redshirts and sit out he year again becuase of the knee injuries. My question about them though... do they still have 4 years of eligability? Both took a regular redshirt and then a medical redshirt year?

As long as they both red shirted last year, then again medically this coming year; then yes they will both have 4 years of eligibility left

true, but in all honesty, barring miraculous recoveries by both, neither will play next year. Such a request stands a very, very high probability of being granted.

Actually, they'll most likely be able to play as early as August/September. There was a post in the thread about their injuries which showed that it takes about eight months from surgery to be ready for football.

while this is somewhat of a digression from Rose, I totally tore my ACL and MCL and I was nowhere near football ready after 8 months. Of course that was 11 years ago without the trainers or facilities of osu.

i'm pretty sure the surgical instruments consisted of safety scissors, a hack saw, a hot glue gun, duct tape, a tongue depresser, and a black and decker electric drill.

I had my ACL/MCL operation 8 years ago, and I know at the time I was "arguing" with my insurance provider about them not covering parts of my rehab because they assumed my leg would be completely immobilized for several weeks. But actually the procdure had changed from stitching in the new ligament to screwing it to the bones, so they had me up and attempting to walk 1/2 hour after the surgery.

So like it's been said before, I'm sure the continuous upgrades in technology, procedures, and rehab have these guys back on their feet sooner now than what perception is and care used to be. I was up and dancing at my brothers wedding reception (to Jump Around no less) a month later...not that I could have taken or delivered a crushing hit in football.
